I’m never had so much Bubble Tea in my life and after trying so many - I think my favourite has to be the Brown Sugar Boba Milk from 幸福堂 (Xing Fu Tang).

What was unique about this was - the boba pearls were steeped in brown sugar in a large wok at the front of the store. When you order it - they’d scoop a ladle worth of that gooey brown sugar goodness that also coated the cup. And to finish it off - they would sprinkling some brown sugar on the top and blow-torched for that crème brûlée-like finished. And THIS was what I liked about the drink - it was aromatic - and you could taste that caramelised and not-too-sweet brown sugar throughout the drink. It was REALLY that good!!

I wished they would consider coming to Singapore - and they ARE....!! Stumbled upon a news article this morning. Apparently Xing Fu Tang will be opening its first store at #01-22 Century Square from end of June.... and there will be a Xing Fu Tang’s Pop-Up Store at Takashimaya from May 30-June 16, 10am-9.30pm daily... and that’s what I call - happiness (幸福)...!!

Usually the Anmitsu found in Singapore comes with Matcha ice cream and since I’ve not a big fan of matcha - I’ve only gotten to have Anmitsu while in Japan. So I’m glad that I managed to find the kind that I like right here in this little red dot...!!

Had the Gardener’s Spade - Truffle Carbonara Cream based Tri-colour Spaghetti with black truffle, garlic, parmesan cheese, sous vide egg, and turkey ham. Well, not only did it look good but it tasted great too - and it wasn’t coz I was hungry.

The al dente pasta mixed with the sous vide egg was rich and creamy, and that truffle simply elevated the dish by giving it that extra “oomph”...!! Loved it...!!

This was my first time having a Portobello Burger and my thoughts - was OK - wasn’t great. In fact, it was rather blend and I’d have preferred if they could add something to give it a little more flavour - maybe Caramelized Onions...? Cos the Ratatouille didn’t do it.

Would I eat it again? I would - especially if you want to eat something without filling you’re stomach - cos you want to make room for dessert later! And that was exactly why I decided to have this burger...!! ☺️

Anyway, had their double XXL (2 beef patties) with “the works” - basically everything on - mustard, pickles, relish, mayo, lettuce and tomatoes - minus the onions - just the way I like my hamburger to be.

The last time when I was there - I felt the patties were a tad dry - however they redeemed themselves. This time, the patties were cooked to medium well - they were aromatic, flavourful, and had a light pink centre with its juices flowing out into my hands with every bite. It was a total mess - but yet so satisfying - especially when accompanied with a side of their buffalo wings - which I thought was tasted so much better (and cheaper) than the ones I had at Dan Ryan’s Chicago Grill just a few weeks ago. Decided to pack some home for the wife...!!

Really enjoyed my Lychee Tea scented tea - mild and lightly sweetened... but got less sweet at every refill coz of the melted ice. The iced tea was served in a pot and a pretty glass cup filled with ice cubes and a stick of lychees with rose powder dusted on it. It was not only refreshingly good but also pretty to look at and I would definitely come back for this again...!!

Got myself a bowl of Udon in Bonito Broth with Lotus Roots, Chikuwa, Shrimp Tempuras. The Udon was decent but I was a little disappointed with the limited Tempuras choices that their had - unlike Tamoya Udon and Tempura - also a Ramen-Tempura place - located at Liang Court. They definitely have got more variety of Tempuras to choose from.

It’s basically Sweet and Sour sauce over a piece of chicken chop. Nothing unique about the dish except maybe there was a couple of lychee thrown into it - which to me wasn’t necessary at all.

Anyway, it was way too sweet for me. If @yakun_sg is reading this - I hope they will adjust its sweetness especially since the Health Promotion Board is already trying to get Singaporeans to cut their sugar intake.

♨️ The freshly deep-fried chicken chunks were crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside...and it really went well with the curry. Not bad for “spa-food”...and especially when I could redeem the $10 voucher that they gave at the counter when checking in.

Not that business was bad for them - but the “kiasu” me wanted to beat the queue - so decided to head over just as they were about to open for business at 11:30am. I’m glad I went early coz who knows how long I would have to queue if I didn’t.

Anyway, since I’ve already tried their Kiwami Wagyu Sukiyaki Don before - I chose the cheaper US Prime Beef Sukiyaki Rice Bowl this time. Although the US Prime Beef didn’t give you the melt-in-your-mouth texture that the wagyu beef gave - it was still good especially when the beef was cooked to medium rare - and soaked with that sweet and savoury sukiyaki sauce. And you know what I’m going to do at my next visit - think I’ll add on more beef...!!

As usual, their set came with a side of handmade sesame tofu in a Dashi Ankake sauce which I really liked, an onsen egg, Aka miso soup (Red Miso) and free flow of assorted pickles.

Apparently, this is a 1 Michelin Star Ramen Store from Tokyo.

Since I prefer Ramen in Tonkotsu broth - I chose Tonkotsu Original Ramen. The noodles was soft and light, and the broth was rich and flavourful but the portion was a tad small. Even my 12 year-old son felt that he didn’t have enough to eat. Overall, dinner was good. However, I wasn’t impressed even though this is a 1 Michelin Star Ramen store. Personally, I felt that the Ramen from Hakata Ikkousha Ramen, located at the opposition side of Chjmes, tastes better... and you could even customise your bowl of ramen. What’s your thoughts on this...??
