I miss this old lady and her bakes! My dad would buy some char siew sou, malay kueh, yam cake etc from this stall by the roadside everyday when we were jn Penang. Everything is made fresh daily and the old lady always brings out something fresh from the oven once the items were running out. The stall opens till late afternoon. Very nice bakes/snacks and cheap too! You could taste the freshness of the ingredients.

Looking very nondescript in this rather old coffeeshop is the "Indo Pura Muslim Food" stall. But do not be distracted by appearance because their "ayam penyet" is a real gem.
Extreme crunch of skin plus supreme juiciness of meat is a must for any "ayam penyet" worth its salt, but making theirs extra Burpple-worthy is the chilli sambal. It's truly fragrant and lip-stingingly hot. Mix it into the fluffy white rice if you can take the spiciness. Ask the stall-owner uncle nicely and he might also throw in some extra terrible-for-you-but-terribly-delicious fried batter bits.

From top: Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Cheese, Crab roe, Garlic, Sze chuan and original. These colourful xlb would easily made one's day but it's nothing more than a visual feast. Taste wise there's really nothing special and I would rather have a basket of 8 normal xlb

Been here twice already but the food still don't impress me. Really don't get what's the hype about. Food is way overpriced. Coffee is good though and probably the only thing worth coming here for.

Wonderful caramelized char siew from Char. Very different from the usual char siew that we get from hawker centres. This is sweeter and melts in your mouth. Their service leaves much to be desired though. Won't be soon till my next visit. Read the full review at http://shirlynnyang.blogspot.sg/2014/07/char.html?m=1

First time eating at Saveur as there's always a long queue and man, this is what I've been missing out! Super tender, well-marinated and crispy duck confit that's not oily at all and oh-so-good! I had to control myself from ordering a second portion. Really affordable too! 😋

This really hip-looking cafe shows no trace of its past; probably the only thing that is obvious was the signboard that is retained from the previous tenant. It takes over an old coffeeshop that had started here ever since the estate was around, which also used to house a rather famed Prawn Noodle stall in here. Other items such as the artwork in the cafe featuring old calendars and a weighing scale in its toilet also gives a nod to the past. Despite so, the menu is rather western, featuring salads, all-day brunch and desserts as well as coffee made using the Throwback blend by Papa Pahelta. Go for the waffles if you are here; the Buttermilk is fragrant at its best even though its not even stated in the menu, and for those interested in savoury waffles they also serve them with Fried Chicken, which is also one of their specialties.

One of the cafe that's the talk of the town now. Sadly, I was terribly disappointed by the roasted chicken panini. I practically returned the whole thing back to the server cos I simply just can't force myself to eat the bread. I think I need to give them another chance but not until I forget how I spent $15 on a horrible bread. Coffee was excellent though.
