How good does this Ong Maki look? It's chef's signature sushi roll at Choubei Japanese Restaurant. At $35++, it's jam packed with various types of sashimi and uni depending on the season. There's even crispy fish skin and avocado in the roll for extra flavour and texture. The restaurant is based at Village Hotel Changi, so it's a little bit out of the way, but that also makes it great for the escapades outside of the city.

A good starter to munch on as you wait for your steak to be grilled up at Skirt.

The star during our dinner at Skirt… this Black Angus T-bone! Flame grilled to perfection on the parrilla grill with smokey flavour.
Excellent food and awesome service. Especially restaurant managed Mr. Paolo who patiently describes all aspects of the dining experience at Skirt. Highly recommended.

The specialty of the bartender at Woobar - W Sentosa is this take on the Old Fashioned. The glass is filled with candy floss which melts when the shot is poured in, adding a little sweetness to the concoction.

The "Traditional Kaiserschmarren", Spago's signature dessert meant for two to share, is essentially a GIGANTIC SOUFFLÉ. The biggest I've seen in my life, to be honest.
When it was first presented in all its poufed up perfection, we couldn't help but gasp at its splendour. A plate with a neat arrangement of house-made strawberry ice-cream, toasted almond flakes and a heap of warm strawberries, was also set in front of us. Catalin, our amazing waiter from Romania (and I use the word "amazing" most sincerely because his service was beyond stellar) proceeded to scoop huge chunks of the soufflé containing creme fraiche, rum and plump golden raisins onto our plates. Eating this dessert was like indulging in a piece of cloud that happened to be dressed in touches of earthly bounty.
As each Kaiserschmarren takes 16 minutes to rise in the oven, do note this dessert is only available at lunchtime as part of the restaurant's a la carte menu.

Tender chicken breast meat that isn't sous vide! Stuffed with prawn and asparagus, the chicken was surprisingly tasty and juicy. This dish has a good mix of greens and the barley risotto was perfect—with a little bite yet soft. Goes really well with the mushroom sauce. 😋

This restaurant is currently a secret little getaway for a good meal, but would be great for groups to catch up and events too.

Macaroni in a tomato soup base with luncheon meat. This is like something you'd eat at home.
Don't expect mind-blowing dishes at Tai Cheong Bakery. Instead expect comforting, simple fare that you can top off with a few egg tarts to complete your meal.

If there's one thing I'd order again, this would be no. 1 on my list. Salmon with sweet mango piled on a stack of sushi rolls and topped with ikura! 😍 Simple affordable pleasures.

Adulting means having a little bit of alcohol in everything. Like this Honey Bourbon Créme Brulee at Meat Smith! Hints of honey while the custard itself wasn't overly sweet. The torched shell was fun to crack through. A good end to a night of good food and drinks. 🍸

Served with your choice of maple syrup or dulce de leche, this is one of the better options at Tai Cheong Bakery. But then again, butter makes everything taste good. More towards affordable casual dining, don't go with high expectations. It's a very cosy (shoulder to shoulder) kinda dining experience and with the queue, it's not exactly somewhere you'd want to be chillin' at after your meal. It's a good place to fill your belly or to pick up some egg tarts (the queue is shorter than Tai Cheong at Takashimaya). Plus a bonus! This outlet has a Durian & Cheese Tart available. I wouldn't mind more of that! 😋
