Burpple Beyond Set For Two ($39) Visited the place during dinner time! The place is small and there were no seats, so the staff seated us at the tables inside Kajiken instead (1 shop down, beside Onkei Tonkatsu). Seems like the three eateries are affiliated~ There was no yakitori available on that day so the staff allowed us to replace it with their usual other sides, and we opted for the mentai hotate and mentai tamago (not pictured because we already ate them 🤣). Both were quite nice! BB set comes with a don of your choice, salad, free-flow hot/cold green tea and miso soup. The chirashi don has a sizeable portion of mixed sashimi however there’s also non-sashimi items inside (cooked prawn and japanese scallop). Interesting additions but my personal preference would be for the mixed sashimi to have more sashimi varieties and less octopus 🐙

Decent food for the price Paid $38 for this 1-1 deal. Pretty decent and fresh chirashi bowl for the price, got 1 mentaiko and 1 normal. Set comes with green tea, salad and yakitori. Very filling meal even though the chirashi bowl looks small. Will not pay full price for this though, as the food quality is very much average, but it’s value for money for the burpple price paid. Place was very small and squeezy, ambience is poor especially if you want to sit there and chill. This is more for a takeaway/ “fast food” joint. Staff was friendly though, and offered us a seat at the tonkatsu place beside (which was relatively more spacious). Service was good.

Prompt and excellent service The place is pretty small but the waitress is very helpful to get us a table next door selling tonkatsu. (I think they are under the same company) Ordered 2 sets of the same item. Pricing is around $38 for 2 sets. So far I have experienced positive service experience over at this Paya Lebar outlet as this is not the first outlet which I have gone to. Will be back again :)

Ice Cream Waffle Seemed like a popular place. I can't fault the food but I'm not a fan of mochi waffle so I've mixed feelings.

1-1 waffle as what others have mentioned you don’t actually save $16 from the deal… but decided to try and got 2 waffles and 4 scoops of ice cream (~$30++). waffle portion is quite generous, thick and crispy. would recommend getting the dark chocolate ice cream.

The deal don’t match, don’t make the trip there. Went in and did not order. Checked with the staff and they indicated that the 1 for 1 deal is only for the waffles base from $8.50. Not those fancy waffles which are priced at around $15. Such misleading offer when the saving indicated for the 1 for 1 offer is stated ~$15. Birria Beef Taco Had a great catch-up with friends over tacos at Afterwit! Loved my order of Birria Beef Taco ($20). Beefy, cheesy, oh-so-juicy and a tinge tangy-sweet with the salsa. Generously filled with well-seasoned meat and melted mozzarella, the charcoal tortillas (said to be prepared fresh daily) were pretty nifty to pick up as well - holding the moist filling nicely and providing tender-chewy bites though tbh I still made quite a mess. The lamb consomme served on the side was delightfully umami too, giving the comforting meat flavours a boost.

birria tacos this was really good!! i got the beef option (you can also choose lamb or chicken) and they gave a pretty decent amount of beef (although its not really obvious in the picture). also served with lamb consomme which was the ✨highlight✨ to me because it was made so well and so flavourful! the shop itself also had really nice and rustic vibes 🤩🤩

🌟 Delicious Soft Shell Tacos 🌟 Soft shell tacos usually aren't up my alley but in this case I didn't mind. On the pricier end for tacos at $15 for 2 but they were filling and well worth the pricetag imo. My friend ordered this for me as a takeaway and they were generously filled with pulled beef and cheese, just the right amount of savory and spicy. The whole dish is an umami explosion, in a good way, and I found it funny that they included quail eggs—a first for me, but they didn't really do anything flavor wise. It is served with some soft onions on the side and tomato purée in which I enjoyed dipping my tacos in. My only complaint...... This was a takeaway and the dish, overflowing with gravy and meat is incredibly messy to eat. I really wish they provided cutlery without being asked because I had to eat this in a public work area and I just hope to god no one saw me while I was eating this. They did provide 4 napkins along with the order however, which I found myself needing for the meal.

A very, very solid cheeseburger from the most unexpected of places. Gem Bar really nailed the basics of a good cheeseburger: great buns, oozy melted American cheese, and a crazy thicc patty. Their brioche buns are really fluffy, squishable, and super buttery — just the way I like mine. Patty boasted a wonderfully charred and blackened crust, with a juicy, tender, well-seasoned and perfectly medium center. Tie that all in with a surprisingly addictive sweet and tangy relish, and you’ve got yourself the amazingly delish Gem Cheeseburger.

signature cocktails Would usually opt for spirits, but we popped by to try their cocktails. The flower song served in a teapot ($16++) features vodka shaken with chrysanthemum tea. Thought it might be a tad too bitter, but it was surprisingly well rounded and very smooth! It’s served with a chrysanthemum flower in the tea cup and it’s alcohol content is pretty potent. The kyoho pornstar ($16++) comprises gin mixed with Prosecco. The grape juice, elderflower syrup and lychee contribute to a sweet floral fragrance! Would have liked for the alcohol to come through more strongly. Would recommend snagging a seat in front of the bar to catch them in action!

birthday surprise for the gorl was a little afraid of the poor reviews, but turned out to be a pleasant surprise (at least for the Japan theme)! favourites were the houjicha tart, maple danish, and lobster dish. the burger was ok! tastes like mos beef yakiniku burger. the lavender apple roll tasted like my school’s toilet diffuser/cleaning product though. sweets are pretty indulgent, would feel full after. drinks are also refillable. according to my pal, it was a “slay”.

THE SEAFOOD PAELLA - $72++ These are special sharing dishes ($32++ for 2-3 and $72++ if you have a table of 4-6). This can be your signature main. You could order a few starters and just a paella. Add a couple of additional mains only if needed. The dish is amazing and they claim is made of sustenable fish.

Amazing Food Every single dish taste amazing! Eggs were soft and fluffy, paella is flavourful, chicken was tender. Mix of flavours is complementary, ambience and service is great too, highly recommended!

Great Food, Amazing Service! The Burpple set was a variety of dishes that were fresh, delicious, filling and satisfying. Food was all cooked perfectly and served from the minute we sat down and ordered. We especially loved the pork jowl, the Spanish omelette, and the paella. The staff were super attentive. They would see us looking around and would approach us even before we called them over. Didn’t get to try their tapas but all the dishes left the kitchen looking delicious. We’ll definitely come back again to try more!

I’m Famous [$8] Apple, homemade salted caramel. Absolutely love the salted caramel! Not the thick sticky gooey type, but more viscous and watery. So you’d image the flavor to be there but the texture is much lighter! Goes so well with the crepe!

Buzz Me [$6] Honey, lemon, toasted almond. All dessert crêpes are made with wheat flour, unless the savory ones which are made of buckwheat flour. Not bad! Light dessert with mild sweetness from honey and a nice hint of lemon

Fish with macadamia crust The fish was fresh and soft, and the crust complimented it really well! Really enjoyed this! We ordered 3 main dishes, and 2 desserts (so we could use a Burpple deal, and it was about $30/person) pretty worth it!

Keto Brownie This legit taste super super good, even on a normal brownie scale. The chocolate was fudgy but not sticky, and it wasn’t too sweet either which went very well with the ice cream! The other items on the menu also looked pretty good and decently priced for a restaurant with a nice ambiance! Would come back again to try their other food!

Plant based Crab pasta Again, taste exactly like crab! Pasta was decent.

Treat Yo Self to Potatoes :3 Ordered the Truffle Fries and a Latte. You can choose 2 dips from 5-6choices for the fries and I chose Nacho Cheese & Salted Caramel dips. They're really delicious and filling(for one person), and the taste of Truffle is just right. The latte was average. I would come back to chill here and try more of the potato dishes :)

Great fries. Great sauces. I decided to give this a try after searching on Burpple and boy was it good!! Choose two dips (we had wasabi mayo & salted caramel) out of several choices. High quality dish and generous savings at $7 make this one of the must eats at Poteato.
