A lovely little homey warung located in the middle of nowhere, Depot Betty can whip up an unbelievably lip-smacking plate of chopped up pork parts that burst with flavour! From the amazing crackling down to the deep fried pig's blood, a plate of this goodness will fill you right up with utmost satisfaction for only IDR 45,000 (~SGS4.50). Word of advice, though: Remember to ask them to hold the spice if you're not a big fan of heat, or else you're in for a real kicker!

This colossal dish from the boys at Curious Palatte is as beefy as it gets: The meat, cooked tender to the fork, is full of flavour and generously pilled onto crisp arugula leaves and a slice of toasted sourdough. A coating of coffee powder is dusted over the beef as well, lending a hint of roasted beans to the savoury beef. A helping of caramalised onions and sun-dried tomatoes add contrast to flavours, and the same could be said about the uh-MAY-zing espresso butter drizzled over the poached egg. For $19.50, the dish is good for sharing between two.

There's just something comforting about a simple plate of bebek goreng (deep fried crispy duck) that I can't seem to put my finger on. It was my first time trying this dish and I was left speechless at every mouthful of duck that was crispy at first bite but proceeded to melt in my mouth right after. What makes it so unbelievably delicious is the lip-smacking sambal ijo (green chili paste ground with local herbs and calamansi) lathered over the duck, adding an INSANE myriad of flavours to the palate. A "paket" meal sets you back IDR109,000 (~SGD10.90) and it comes with a plate of rice and ulam, a bowl of soup, and a glass of freshly made orange juice.

Not something we get to see on the menu! The goat's cheese definitely add some depth of flavour to the pasta dish (IDR59K, roughly SGD5.90), albeit a tad bit salty. Penne was rather springy still, but offsets the softened bell pepper and local vege.

Surprisingly better than what we usually get in Singapore! For IDR69K (~SGD6.90), this really hits the spot with spaghetti that's done al-dente with a generous helping of bolognese sauce and a good pile of mozzarella - delish in a dish!

needless to say, the tea-loving side of me fell head-over-heels for the Earl Grey Cupcake.

p.s. Thanks @gigglesandjiggles for braving the rain and helping us get them from the store, and @veronicaphua for providing us shelter in your lovely office. ☔️ #Burpple #BurppleSG #TastyTastemakerTour

Stuffed our faces silly with their latest flavours (which names I'm having trouble remembering at the moment because we had to eat them fast since they were melting by the second!) Dessert-lovers beware: their 流沙 and Raspberry soft-serve will keep you coming back for more! #Burpple #BurppleSG #TastyTastemakerTour

Cute lil' Cold Brew Shots, complimentary from the wonderful people at @thehangarsg who gave us a fun Coffee Tasting sesh today. ☕️ #Burpple #BurppleSG #TastyTastemakerTour

Perhaps my tastebuds were expecting heavier & stronger flavours from the dishes since I'm more accustomed to the Malaysian version of nasi padang. Regardless, I'd go back again just to have their ayam bakar lathered with amazingggg kuah! Their nangka lemak deserves a notable mention as well. 👍🏻 #Burpple #BurppleSG #TastyTastemakerTour

Started with the amazing Chili Crab Burger at Artistry. The "crabby" patty is one of the best ones I've had so far! ALL THAT CRAB MEAT UNF. #Burpple #BurppleSG #TastyTastemakerTour

If you're not into cakes that are teeth-numbingly sweet, Kki Sweet @ SOTA might just be your new dessert spot. The Royal Tea Cheesecake is a delicate, smooth, and gentle delight - a saving grace for those who aren't a big fan of tart cheesecakes (such as myself). Their Dark Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake on the other hand is an indulgence in a bar with Kirsch-soaked cherries that add a touch of surprise with every bite out of the warm, deep chocolate. For about $4.80 to $5.80 per cake, I'm sure you'd be back to try out every flavour they have behind the counter!
