But the taste were so-so. The rice was dry (maybe cos I ate them the next day) and the ikura and Mentaiko Mayo was not salty or umami enough. Like 3/5⭐️? I think the other sushi looked more tasty. But this was supposed to be best by the next day..!! I’ll give it another try and maybe have it on the spot. Will update when I do that!! But seriously. Half off sashimi, sushi and all cooked food. Also lots of that famous cooked sweet potato left 😅 on a tues night.

Takosen - first time trying from Don Don Donki. Cheap deal at $3.50. Apparently I should get 3 balls but I only got 2.. ☹️ but it wasn’t a bad thing, since I didn’t like the takoyaki. Such an irony.

The Mac and cheese mayo was tastier without the takoyaki, which was cold and dense. Meh. I’m not sure I will wanna get this again... was so excited and then so disappointed. I was there late enough the sashimi and sushi were all 50% off!!! Even cheaper than this takosen.

Mini specials at The Great Food Festival #tgff. Was really excited to see a deconstructed mooncake and new interpretation of the eclairs. Minis not usually available at the actual location unless ordered at least a day before for high tea. Also moonclairs were said to not be sold after end sept. I liked that the salted yolk in the middle was not so sweet. The top cookies were yums also. But I was so so on the lotus paste and the eclair based. Nice to try but not next time.

Chicken, usually not my thing. But I’ve been reminiscing about this delicious stuffed and fried chicken by Chef Abel @magicsquare.sg yum yum yum. I love the Mochi stuffed in the boneless wing, so much chewiness and fluffy like melted muah chee. The glaze was finger licking good of honey and light amounts of Szechuan peppercorn giving you some hint of numbness. I’m not ashamed to say I cleaned my wings and demolished the glaze left on the plate 😜😋😋😋😜

this was among the 9 dishes I had at the dinner tasting by @magicsquare.sg , comes up to about $96 with free flow water. I really love the idea of a chef incubator, allowing 3 talented young chefs like Chef Abel to polish and home their skills! I can’t tell Chef Abel has never owned his own restaurant if you didn’t tell me - all the love and thought fusing his western skills with unique Asian flavors. And so delicious!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼You can have this lovely wings as part of lunch (3 course, fri and sat only for 38++) and dinner (9 course, for 75++) till end Oct!! Abit ulu at Wessex estate to get to but definitely worth it (just take 191 from one north or buona vista for 5-10 mins).

Can’t wait to bring my lovely hb when he visits, and hopefully we get more delicious chicken!!

Heart Attack Fried Rice and minimum 600g of USDA beef. Cooked perfectly medium rare. Simple task to demolish by 3 people. $14 per 100g and comes with a giant plate of beef-fat fried rice and wedges. Still can to go fried rice home!!

Love the beefy flavor, the tender and rich meat. I added the salt flakes to accent the beef richness. Definitely worth the trip to Hill View @newubinseafood - much better than Chijmes. The unique location in the carpark, open air, surrounded by trees. Quite kampung. Remember to like new ubin fb page to get a free glass of lime juice! Will be back. My tasty beef. Yum.

Had a simple quick lunch before gym today. Tried the mentaiko French bun after my good friend alerted me to its goodness: “what do you mean you haven’t tried mentaiko bread?” For just $2.30, you get a tasty crispy baguette filled with mentaiko sauce. Mmmm the umami is excellent! From Sun Moulin bakery in basement of vivo. 5🌟 the Liang sandwich has a strong competitor! Which one should I get next time???

Fri-YAY #latergram ! So glad my buddy @lipperrrs is back and I have company to explore food places while my HB is enjoying Sydney 😜 Back to 28 HK Street again! The entrance is a deceiving old school shophouse door. Push it open and you’ll discover a world of Gatsby, and omg do I feel like I’m back in Seattle/US. The gold decor and dim ambience. Love it!! You should really make a reservation unless you’re chill like us and don’t mind standing around for an hour till a bar seat opens up. Thanks to PP and Fran for bringing here for my birthday a few weeks ago. Great intro!!

Love the drinks - got the same 93 till infinity (fruity drink with pineapple slice - eat it before it gets soggy) and then ventured into the exotic Cheddar drink (surprisingly not bad. Love the combo of cheese, maybe why I’m sold, and this bourbon-like flavor. Meant to be slowly savored. Can I have 3 more pieces of cheese to go with the drink please??) sitting at the bar was excellent as we got front seats to watch the bartenders mix the drinks. PS if I didn’t mention alr, last time I came we had truffle Mac and cheese balls (the best ever!!!) and pandan churros (omg it’s amazing and not too sweet!! Hits the sweet spot! Lol). Oh yes I was annoyed after midnight that people kept invading my space at the bar to order drinks. hello! Personal space everybody. Anyways. I think the key is to not budge and give any space for people to sneak through. You can really just order from the servers walking around, don’t need to come squeeze at the bar with your sticky bodies... eew.

Thur night chill night is a great way for work life balance! No queue at Omu rice! Yay and the lava Omu really wobbles 💖 great classic combo of curry and pork katsu with omurice but surprisingly despite the wobble wobble my fave is still coco ichibanya in SG 😱 mentaiko sauce is abit mild for my liking. Overall 4/5 and I’m willing to try other flavors next time!

Open bar, appetizers and the intimate walkways definitely set up for networking events. I enjoyed the vodka sprite mixer, burger sliders had awesome buns so small and cute, and pizza. There was also cheese and tomato drizzled with olive oil, tomato bruschetta and meatballs. Great servers!

Welcome meal and must-have in Sydney! My favorite ramen in SEA/Ozzy at @chaco_bar Sydney! So yummy - I really enjoy the Yuzu scallop! Light and flavorful soup I haven’t had anywhere else. Remember to add the egg - nicely flavored and amazing texture💖 they even serve lunch till 2:30pm. No wait at 2pm and remember to bring your cash to pay at the counter!

Great time to chill at lunch with my hb and friends! Not as busy during lunch so you can sit for a bit of time.

Favourite Musubi in a Long while! Musubi is a Hawaiian Japanese dish - basically Luncheon meat (spam) sushi. However Sumo Happy Bar has outdone all Musubi I’ve tried - they made their own luncheon meat 😋it was soft and tender and flavorful, unlike the salty commercial spam you get. I think a spicy Maling brand version will be cool too! The rice was tasty but fell apart. Mayo enhanced the flavor but the seaweed needs work - soft very quickly.

And the best part - it’s on the happy hour menu from 5-7pm Everyday! $5 for one onogiri size piece - didn’t see it on the regular menu. Also it is quite ex if not for happy hour... also really loved all other dishes at @sumobarhappy ! Bring lots of friends and share appetisers and ramen! The location is a little secluded, on the side of the Waterloo center building, there’s a foodcourt next door in the same alley! Thanks to my dear Woon for recommendations.

PS they also have a happy birthday salmon special (if you have 4 paying adults ordering a main each, you can get the number of salmon slices equivalent to your age for free!) you know where I’ll be for my birthday 😋
