manager says you can’t swap for non-alcohol drinks btw 🙄

tldr: cute cozy place, affordable, yummy yummy cocktails which are reasonably refined for the price (and VERY worth w burpple beyond)! if you’re nearby and don’t have sky high expectations, go and visit!

went on a thursday night because it’s right around my workplace. we were the only ones there (which is a plus in my eyes honestly) but we Lowered Our Expectations To Zero just in case 😁😁😁 the place itself is SO cute retro type beat, nice spacious seats and a whole lotta pretty pink. we got the pink lady ($14) and the whisky sour ($12) (1 for 1!) AND we also shared a gin & tonic ($8). the gin and tonic was too tonic heavy, we didn’t like it at all. the pink lady was reasonable, a little one-note and juice-ish but still enjoyable and exact to the picture on the menu. the whiskey sour tho…. DELICIOUS! it had a gorgeous thick layer of infused foam on top, reasonably smooth and VERY well-balanced. and the alcohol content was perfect for the slightest bit of wooze in the head. i will definitely revisit to try all their other cocktails, and for the 1 for 1 mains and pasta! (cons 👎🏾: long wait time for our drinks but we saw them meticulously making it behind the bar and we didn’t mind! + wouldn’t travel out of the way to come here)

got these because they’re right across my block. if i had to use 1 word i’d say both drinks tastes very artificial, which i could not pin-point exactly but it just felt bad sitting in my tummy. the classic oreo is strange and a little vile, if you close your eyes it kinda just tastes like crushed ice with the faintest tinge of oreo. i saw them use milk powder instead of milk (and i’m not sure if they used real oreos in the blend) so a big never again. the hazelnut milk tea was very mid, but again for the price (both for $3 with burpple) i’ll cut down the complaining. they seem like a small franchise and i would be open to trying their new flavours.

hawker stall with one of my favourite truffle pastas ($12.90 i think?). used to grab order this every time i had carby cravings and i decided to try it irl. sauce is scrumdumyumdelicious, truffle is strong and the spaghet has a good bite to it. it’s just really good. they have a few outlets so if you’re passing by try it. trust! con (👎🏾) wait time that day was 30 mins, not sure why but they told us in advance! weren’t on a time crunch so we just walked around the neighbourhood and it was a non issue

we had the creamy crab ($26) and the beef ragu ($22)! (👍🏾) were both really, really delicious and i thoroughly enjoyed every bite of the potato filled gnocchi - was the perfect bite and size for me. expected it to be jelak towards the end but it wasn’t, likely cause we shared 2 different flavour profiles so i’d recommend the same! beef bolognese has a good hit of spice and i like to think i have a decent spice tolerance but it got my nose leakinnng. ambience is also very chill and cozy. only con (👎🏾) is prices are steep and the portions are on the smaller side/not filling (but that’s tipo esque and you can always upsize). still i’d return another time to try the other flavours :-) i also got the ice latte which was decent

overall rating: 💸💸💸 or 3/10

this is the lychee rose tart. the taste alone is ok it is passable… best part is the crust and the strawberries! the cream is not milky and luxurious it’s like normal cream. rose part is ok i guess kinda tasted like a light bandung. the custard at the bottom didn’t really taste of anything. $10 is crazzzyyyyyy pls not a cop it looks pretty but not worth the money at all 🥲 previously i also tried the choco banana cake not the tart so maybe that is nicer (one of my fav combinations) but the cake version was very disappointing omg the cream was so fluffy and not milky, not nice, had to throw some away after eating only the banana. if u want a rich/indulgent taste this place is probably not it! if you’re into that fresh feeling then maybe this is good for you

this is probably the best tendon i’ve had (by no means a connoisseur)! and it was better than i remembered it having eaten here a few years back. this has 3 slices of chicken, sweet potato, pumpkin, mushroom, nori seaweed, an egg thats also fried, and served over a bed of rice with sauce incorporated. miso soup was also served on the side, it was yummy and compliments the dish. seaweed is still so crispy despite the last thing being eaten 😳 advised to get cold houjicha as all of the items are fried 🫖

dad’s rating: 7/10

the signature tempura consists of 3 ebi, a long slab of fish, seaweed, mushroom, egg, and other veggies over a bed of rice! can request for shoyu; the shoyu sauce is light and fragrant, not overly salty! the ebi as you can see has quite a thick batter around it so it’s a little soft, not as crispy as i would’ve liked it 🍤 miso soup was also served as part of the meal!

total price paid per pax using beyond ~$12 (pretty good)

pictured is the omni burger black ($15), omni golden fillet no fish ($16), peanut butter shake, and berry shake (maybe ~$6 each)!

as a meat eater when i first bit into the omni black, it couldn’t tell that it wasn’t meat but after taking a few more bites it started to become apparent because the sauce was kinda overpowering to compensate 😮‍💨 the patty had not much texture too. loved the mushrooms though. couldn’t finish it in the end, but the fries were nice! the side salad was okay it’s good if you like balsamic.

for the fish my pal said “this u know it isn’t meat” 🐟 the texture looks kinda legit to be fair. the sweet potato fries are delicious and just as expected, and the saving grace is the sauce provided (miso ketchup)! smells nice, tasted like it had traces of truffle oil 👍 both dishes did start to taste the same and wasn’t very moreish hmm “one-noted” as pal said

the shakes were decent enough but tasted a little watered down, idk how to describe it but if you’re non-vegan and had a boost smoothie before boost is way better (you’re welcome) BUT the burpple deal is decent and let us try new food!! pal did like the peanut butter shake though she recommends it 🥜 loved that the place gave us a jug of water because i’m always thirsty lol. would probably try the other food on the menu ✨

did reviews on the custard obanyaki and the azuki red bean taiyaki so feel free to scroll below/check it out! this is the menu, feels more limited than before :,) still yummy and worth eating tho!

this is the custard obanyaki ($1.8)! filling is generous and rich, tastes like … custard lol nothing overly unique (which is a good thing, we don’t want custard tasting funny) tasted kinda like chateraise’s double fantasy custard puff. definitely a cop

haven’t had taiyaki in a looonnnggg time! it is better than i remembered it omg the flour is reminiscent of japanese pancake batter (well makes sense) and the azuki red bean is sweet and yummy (as a person who doesn’t really like local red bean). this costs $2, so worth the money as the filling is pretty packed in 🥞 a little sad that there are fewer options in the menu though (i think only cheese, chocolate, azuki red bean for the taiyaki. more options for obanyaki like matcha red bean mochi etc!)
