We tried their Famous Prawn Linguine(comes in 2 sizes, $18.50++/$26++). This was the $26 one. Yes, the word 'famous' was part of dish's name. Frankly, the tomato based sauce was very average, nothing special at all, but I was wow-ed by the number of large prawns in the pasta. Their linguine pasta was of a thinner, rounder and less flat variant. Not sure if the shape made the pasta harder to cook, but it tasted just a tad undercooked to me. However I still liked the chewiness of it.

The burger was definitely better than their beef sliders. However despite asking for the patty to be done medium, it was almost well done. Thankfully it was still juicy and tasted great. Thick cut fries were okay, wished there was some seasoning with it.

This restaurant serves the typical korean fare like bibimbap, stews, as well as korean barbeque. The staff and servers were koreans as well. I have never had jjajangmyeon before as the thick dark sauce always intimidates me, but this place somehow seemed to be a good place to try it out. The black bean sauce was delicious and rich, with plenty of chunky vegetable and pork. I found it too salty and kind of cloying after half a bowl, so I ate half and swapped it with my bf's bibimbap. The noodles were great, chewy and QQ. I will definitely try this dish again at other korean restaurants.
P.S. The kimchi was so good that I bought a small tub home.

The mushrooms were sauteed in a garlicky creamy white wine sauce and topped with grated parmesan cheese. I love love love this sourdough. It was thick and toasted to perfection, excellent for soaking up every bit of the delicious cream sauce. They were also so generous with the amount of mushroom. This dish may not look like much, but if you do finish both slices of bread (each of which was the size of my face), this will be more than substantial.

Chanced upon this stall because most stalls were closed on a weekday afternoon (is this always the case here?). No regrets though because this was a hearty bowl of noodles, with chunks lean chicken meat, fatty pork belly and fried yam slices. Add your own chili for an extra kick. I wished there was ngoh hiang in it though. Sorry to the bf for taking the last portion of kway teow and leaving none for you 😂.

I had the brioche bread in my eggs benedict ($16++) changed to sourdough because I felt that a firmer bread can soak up the runny yolk better without getting too soggy. Bf accidentally ordered 4 sunny side ups for himself 😂😂 with his truffle house breakfast ($16++). Overall I enjoyed this cafe. It had lots of good natural lighting and a nice mish mash of non similar white/grey furniture.

Despite staying opposite this road, there are still a few eateries we have yet to try, and this was one of them. The beef was really good - very very tender and smoky. I didn't like the chicken cubes so much because I am not a fan of thigh meat (too many tendons and stringy tissue). The best part of this strangely was the rice! It looked like plain basmati rice, but it tasted buttery and was so fluffy and light. Even bf said it was better than his briyani rice!

I had the Fish n Chips ($20++). The serving was generous and large. The fish was so buttery and soft, and the batter was really crisp and light, not the thick and doughy sort. The tartar sauce seemed homemade there, which was tangy and not too heavy. I dislike coleslaw in general but theirs was quite edible 😂. The fries weren't great, but they didn't let down the dish overall.

What a pretty cake! Scroll to left to see a photo of the inside of this cake. I think I had more fun trying to guess what kind of cake it was inside its glossy facade. It was a very tangy (a little too sour for me) fruit cake. Looked prettier than it tasted unfortunately. But still a nice experience as I never had such a cake before.

Thanks to my colleagues for this sweet surprise! 😘 @xxxinyixx @khadijahadn @sj.linn

I had the Rustic Grill ($22++) which was 2 poached eggs on a bed of spinach and sauteed mushrooms, with grilled asparagus and something which tastes like hummus on the side. There was also a slice of bread underneath that load of food. Overall I liked this except for the thin slice of toast. The bread tasted dry and cakey and I didn't like the crust which had a strange burnt-cake taste. But everything else was pretty good. The hummus was delicious, and I liked that barley-rice thing on the side.

Thunder tea rice with brown rice ($4) from the Traditional Hakka Rice stall. I would say this was a rather average bowl of 擂茶. The tea was strangely milky, and I actually saw the auntie putting a white powder into the tea blend before blending everything up. I assumed that powder gave it a milky texture and taste, but I prefer my tea to be rich with a stronger taste. I think what made this stall so popular was the additional ingredients to pick from, like deep fried yong tau fu, fried bitter gourd, omelette, shrimp balls etc. The ingredients sell out really quickly though, so if you want to have lunch here, come before 1pm.
