Thunder tea rice with brown rice ($4) from the Traditional Hakka Rice stall. I would say this was a rather average bowl of 擂茶. The tea was strangely milky, and I actually saw the auntie putting a white powder into the tea blend before blending everything up. I assumed that powder gave it a milky texture and taste, but I prefer my tea to be rich with a stronger taste. I think what made this stall so popular was the additional ingredients to pick from, like deep fried yong tau fu, fried bitter gourd, omelette, shrimp balls etc. The ingredients sell out really quickly though, so if you want to have lunch here, come before 1pm.
