Quite an average dish, with an interesting addition of curried macademia nuts. The bread could be more toasted, and they should leave the butter out or on the side. And I waited 35 minutes for this π. Price okay, taste so-so, wait time, nope.
The Wild Rocket Beef Burger (cannot remember the price, about $20), consisting of 180g beef patty, topped with sun-dried tomato relish, sarawak pepper cream and of course, rocket leaves. No need for add-ons like cheese, mushrooms or bacon, this simple burger was good enough on its own. This was probably one of the juciest burger I ever had.
This was the small chicken murtabak ($6). Waited 20 mins or more for this, and it was not worth the wait. Chicken bones galore, every bite had me spitting out bits or chunks of bones. It was also a tad too spicy for me π£. They got my drink wrong too, and took 10 mins to give me another (it was actually just a matter of putting ice into the hot drink). I shall try Zam Zam next time π.
What a full bowl of fresh ingredients and flavours. Slightly on the pricier side of poke bowls, but the ingredients made up for it.
My second time coming here, and I will always recommend this seafood linguine or the vongole. The portion was so large and the amount of fresh seafood was so generous. This dish was made in a light tomato-based sauce with a rich seafood flavour. The linguine was also perfectly al dente. Pizza and pasta lovers will not be disappointed here!
Nice quaint cafe with quite a large menu for a cafe of this size. Their breakfast menu is decent, on top of having pastas, burgers and other mains like steaks and ribs. I would advise to avoid this place on Sunday mornings though, because there are many churches around the cafe and we had a hard time finding parking.
Not usually a huge fan of chawanmushi but theirs was pretty mild and tolerable. The sashimi was so good. Thick slices, sweet and fresh, everything I want in sashimi.
Mine was the $8.50 bowl, which had smaller prawns (of course) than the more expensive bowls. But I was quite taken aback by the 3 halved prawns I was given. So essentially I only had 1.5 medium sized prawns. The soup was nice; thick and sweet, and I spammed chilli powder in it.
I expected Bali's to be nicer because it originated from Bali and it brought crowds to Capitol Piazza when it opened there. I preferred Singapore's version though. The ribs in Singapore were more charred, better marinated and stickier. I felt that the meat was also more tender and fell off the bone more easily.
I liked how we can customise our own breakfasts here. I had 2 poached eggs, wholegrain toast and wilted spinach, while he had sunny side ups instead, and added whole slipper lobster tail! You can even pick your preferred spread (butter/jam/vegemite etc). Everything I had was excellent, and the service was great too. If not for the insane crowds, I will definitely come here often!
The waffle was totally different than the usual ice cream waffles; very light and airy, very crisp with not much of a buttermilk taste. The fried chicken was good too. I love that its savoury batter was well seasoned, with an almost umami flavour. The bourbon maple syrup was definitely an acquired taste as I am not an experienced drinker, but I do think it paired better with this dish than a regular maple syrup would. Bottomline: try it!
The serving size was so generous that we thought we ate an entire duck. The fragrant and rich herbal sauce was amazing (if herbs are your thing). Its meat was also very tender, not gamey, dry or chewy at all. I had this pre-race and I think it must have nourished me well during the race π.
