Love the peanuts especially as they gave every mouth a nice nutty crunch. This was one of the better thunder tea rice I've had. The tea tasted just right and balanced without being too herb-y or minty. I'm always craving this after my weekend gym sessions!
We had it done in medium, although on hindsight, we should have gotten it medium rare. Perhaps it was the less fatty fillet cut of the beef, the beef was not very juicy. And because a wellington is baked and not grilled, I felt that the beef flavour had less depth and complexity compared to a grilled steak. All in all, it was probably because we were not used to beef being made this way 😅. The pastry could have also been more flaky and hot. The food came really quickly in 10 mins, and we suspect that this could have been sitting on the counter for some time already. Thankfully though, the fish and chips was pipping hot and crispy.
I saw the long queue for this and I knew I had to get it since I'm a huge fan of congee. Usually congees are more porridge than meat, but this was different. Topped with radish, fried shallots and dough fritter, every mouth had some ingredient in it, making it a chunky, hearty and filling meal. I polished up every bit of this in probably 10 mins, scalding my tongue in the process 😂.
Air-fried cod (with crispy skin!) with cabbage stir-fry with basmati rice. Easy to make, easy on the palette, and nutritious. ❤
Linguine allo scoglio (can you tell that I love my seafood and linguine?), a classic seafood pasta tossed in a spicy tomato sauce with grana padano cheese. The spicy tomato sauce was not spicy at all, but it was rich and full of flavours of the sea. The cheese also added depth to the sauce, and the pasta was truly al dente. There is also a tom yum version of this which may possibly be more spicy.
I love bibimbaps and this chicken bibimbap ($11.90++) was probably one of the best I had (not counting those I had in korea). So many toppings (5 veg, meat and egg), and way too much rice, this will definitely fill up any big eater. The marinated chicken was so soft and tender too. It would be even more awesome if this was served in a hot stone bowl.
Pocket friendly, yet generous portion of tender steak slices and 3 large meat balls. Soup was quite salty, but quite typical of most pho. Not bad at all!
We weren't disappointed! The soup was not as peppery, more flavourful and not as oily as the other more common BKT chain which has way too many outlets 🙊. I hope Song Fa opens more outlets. We especially love the pork tenderloin. Usually such sliced pork are dry and tasteless, but these were so soft and tender. Definitely coming back for more.
Only $4 for this, and they really do not skimp on the ingredients. Lots of tender pork slices, meatballs and the best part was the braised mushrooms. The noodles were too hard for my liking though, but amount of vinegar was just right, despite comments that their meepok wasn't vinegar-ish enough.
This breakfast burger ($20++) was the perfect recovery food (all macronutrients checked!). Omelette, apple and pork patty, cheese, spinach and tomato all sandwiched between an English breakfast muffin, and served with crispy roasted potatoes and cherry tomatoes. This was filling that I couldn't finish it even after a race.
Chicken katsu curry level 1, spicy enough for me 😅, but so 'shiok'.
Yes you saw right. Kangaroo! We had really good Kangaroo steak in Australia and I was excited to see Boomarang offering Kangaroo meat dishes. Unfortunately the burger patty was dry and crumbly, and there wasn't enough tomato relish to even cover the patty. I liked the multi-seed burger bun though, and potato wedges were VERY good and addictive. They were not oily, and were so crispy that I could hear every crunch.
