First time trying their quesadillas and it was pretty good flavour wise but they could be more generous (like seriously more) with the salsa and made the tortilla more toasty. Felt like I was eating a soft taco instead.
I had the roast chicken grain bowl ($18+), which had roasted zucchini (2 pieces 😒), sauteed cherry tomatoes, mixed mushrooms, butternut squash, cabbage and apple slaw on a bed of wild and brown rice. Extremely filling and satisfying! I mixed everything together a la bibimbap and it was delicious. The other item in the picture is their rendang donburi (beef rendang with Japanese rice). Judging from how clean my friend's bowl was, it should be delicious as well 😂.
Having no pictures on the menu, I was kind of expecting this to be like Pad Thai with beef, not beef char kuay teow! This must be the most pricey and 'atas' CKT ever. The noodles had a nice deep charred flavour (wok hei!), and I think there was more beef than noodles. However, this was really really really oily and I could not finish it. There was literally a pool of oil at the bottom of the bowl, oilier than hawker centre's CKT 👎.
Bak chor mee tai mak from Yuan Ji Fishball Noodle ($4). This is my favourite stall compared to Hui Ji or the Toa Payoh one, though it has shorter queues. Mee tai mak felt less filling than mee pok. Will stick with mee pok in future.
Pan-seared cod loin, stir-fried broccoli with scallops and basmati rice. Good food for sick people (us both 😭).
Pasta Fresca offers fresh handmade pasta, and a huge variety at that! This was the Alla Marinara in white wine sauce (there was an option of tomato of white wine). Generous amounts of fresh clams, squid, shrimps and mussels, perfect for seafood lovers like bf and I. Their menu is huge, so will definitely visit again to try other items.
I loved the juicy shrimp dumplings and that I can choose hor fun instead of the usual egg noodles. Took a bite from the bf's beef brisket noodles and I would say it was way better than Mak's as well. Their menu is also large, much like a chinese restaurant instead of just a noodle house.
Can't wait for the weekends again. Though going to be a busy one!

Brought here by bf because the dry ramen here is his fave, but I ended up trying their most popular shoyu ramen. Disclaimer: I rarely eat ramen so am totally not familiar with ramen in general. I enjoyed this ramen way more than the thick tonkotsu type. The broth was lighter and less cloying, but I found it slightly too oily. The best part of this ramen was the noodles and char su. The noodles were done just right, with enough bite and not mushy. The char su had a nice bbq-ed seared taste and was very tender, literally breaking apart when I picked it up with chopsticks. Usually hate the fatty bits of char su but I actually ate some of the fats in this.

We went for late lunch past 3pm and there was still a queue! This shows how good Sanpoutei is 👍. #sgjapanesefood
These cute little sliders were the smallest I've seen! The buns were a tad dry and hard, and the beef patty was not that flavourful but done just right and still juicy. Overall not the best I've had but for the price it's pretty okay for an appetizer. Pardon the bluish lighting because there were flashing lights at the cafe which changes colour 😂. Really enjoy the ambience here though, and their other food are good.
The chocolate taste here was bolder and stronger than the salmon dish, which was quite interesting because since when does anyone eat beef with chocolate? But try this with an open mind and you will be pleasantly surprised at how complementary the chocolate and beef was. A very rich dish due to the fatty braised wagyu beef and thick creamy chocolate sauce, this is best shared with someone. Worth mentioning was also the handmade parpadelle pasta. It was al dente and the sauce was able to coat each strand sufficiently.
Bf and I tried 5 items from the menu and we agreed that this was our favourite. He loved how 'medium' the flesh of the salmon was, and I loved how crisp the salmon skin was 😂. The white chocolate hollandiase sauce was creamy yet not overly sweet, and the green apple slices at the side complemented the dish well. We only wished the salmon was bigger! Chocolat Fetish is available until 31st Oct.
