Wanton Noodles Swee Kee used to be popular for their affordable price, but of course they can’t sustain like this in the time of inflation now. But people still queuing up for their noodles selections. For a bigger portion, you can request for more noodles like mine. Topped with slices of char siew and a bowl of soup with wantons.

Braised Mushroom Noodle $3 All time favourite 😋

Pork rib noodles Arrived at 11.00am on a Saturday and was the second in queue. Ordered a $5.00 bowl of pork rib thick bee hoon. A decent portion of bee hoon was served with about 5 pieces of pork ribs. Quite generous in view of inflation these days. The soup which definitely had the strong, umami taste of prawns, a a little too salty to drink by itself. But together with the bee hoon, it was okay. But the one that gets top grades is the pork ribs. The meat comes off with the slightest effort and almost melts in your mouth without chewing. The choice of cut is between lean and fatty. Very obvious that it was marinated and then braised in soya sauce. By this time, the queue is getting longer. Seeing that most people are ordering prawn and pork ribs, I will come back soon to try their dry version. Next time it will be bee hoon mee and we’ll see how that goes.

Pork Ribs Soup ($5) Though famous for their prawn mee, opted for pork ribs soup on this cold day. Enjoyed it a lot! Soup is very tasty with tender pork ribs.

Nostalgic, generous portions Always a fan of their affordable big portioned western food. Had their pork chop and fish&chips (added a pork sausage) this time. Both protein was juicy and flavourful. The fried fish had crispy exterior and juicy inside. The coleslaw, baked beans and fries complimented their protein. Despite huge servings, my dining partner and myself couldn’t stop eating and finished the food. Their pork sausage was huge for the price and tasty. All in all, value for money and nice flavours!

Pork Chop Pork Chop ($7) my sis and I really like marinated herbs like rosemary hints inside the pork chop. Their chop was not that hard and easily to cut through. The uncle even go every table got order chicken or pork chop and fill up more sauce into plate. (I don't really like too much sauce and covered up the taste for pork chop imo)

Chicken Cutlet Chicken Cutlet ($7) its so good and crispy for their outer skin tbh. I almost cannot eat finish their chicken 😅 as their size was quite big for 2 pax. Their fries was quite salty, coleslaw and baked beans just normal 👌 I didn't eat finish for their sides. The tartar sauce was being used for fish & chips also.

Tandoori Chicken Biryani Don't laugh at the chicken hahaha. Okay you should. The gravies and sauces made the meal still enjoyable though.

Combining my two obsessions: naan and making lists! Here are my go-to places for naan and the works, in order of personal preference: 1. Kebabs & Curries, Mustafa Centre (best naans, evenly crispy on the outside yet fluffy and chewy) 2. Al-Azhar, Bukit Timah (best butter chicken) 3. Al-Ameen, Bukit Timah 3. Islamic Restaurant, Bugis 4. Pak Kashmiri Delights, Tekka Market (most budget friendly) 4. Sheikh Indian Pakistani Food, ABC Brickworks (pictured above) It's a tie for third and fourth positions because I can't confidently say that one place is better than the other. So they're tied. My list, my rules lah can? To visit soon: Usman Restaurant, Handi Restaurant (both in Little India), Ayza's (Jurong West) and apparently there's another stall at Tekka Market selling naan too. 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 ($𝟒/𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤) & 𝐍𝐚𝐚𝐧 (𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐜, 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐬𝐞) Some good neighbourhood hawker Indian food 🥺 out of the 3 naan flavour, I actually liked garlic the most! I felt that the cheese naan was slightly overpowering when dipped into the butter chicken, and on the other hand, the butter taste wasn’t prominent at all (might as well get plain naan........) but!!! Garlic naan saved the day :-) and the owners made it on the spot!!! Very fresh and generous (big portions) made by friendly smiley uncles! / the butter chicken was on the sweeter end (maybe a little sweet for my liking) but the chicken is tender and I still enjoyed this meal v much!

Mutton soup Tbh for a moment I barely realised it's mutton, that's how much their herbal soup is able to cover the smell.

Stewed beef There's something about their beef stew that gains my appreciation the more I have it. It's really quite unlike anything I've had, yet still very familiar and in perfect balance. Unique and lipsmacking, don't dismiss it just because of the gimmicky-seeming firepot

Mixed Beef soup 8nett Smaller portion available. Two huge soft beef balls, and everything else was cooked well as expected of their high standards. Impeccable when paired with their sour chili

Soya Sauce Chicken Drumstick Noodles @ El dente noodles. Soft and tender soya sauce chicken. One of the better ones I ever had. Expect Long Queues. Hard to find parking during meal times

Shuijiao dumplings 1nett ea, min order 2 Surprisingly it's not the same filling. This one is juicier, it's quite abit bigger and less savoury. It also runs out at about 10am everyday. There's mangguang and black fungus inside for crunch which the wantons do not have. Personally, I prefer the more intense and denser wantons, so I'd say there's really no need to come so early to grab these

Ckn leg 4.5nett PSA The queue is ridiculous and moves slowly during lunch. However when you come in the morning at 8 when they just open, there's hardly anyone. I queued behind a single person lol. The queue picks up at around 10 apparently Well it really is very good. It's tender in the way that results from undercooking it compared to what you normally get. Sauce was light but unique. If you can perceive the difference then this is definitely worth a try

Xiao Long Bao The skin on these XLB was tender and soft. Although the skin tends to be on the thicker side and not as prettily folded up, it holds the soup and fillings much better. The fillings were well marinated and flavourful with a bursting mouthful of soup in each bite. The broth in the XLB leans on the sweeter side but I like that it's less oily. This is definitely a bang for the buck at just $5.

Pan-Fried Dumplings Perfectly seared dumplings to a crispy golden bottom with tasty fillings. The skin has a nice combination of crispy and chewy on the other side with sweet and savoury flavours of fillings underneath. Every piece was stuffed with a substantial amount of filling and extremely value-for-money 》$7

Chili oil dumplings 6nett I have to say, I'm aware a lot of people like this, and I find myself enjoying it too, but this isn't authentic. The chili oil doesn't have much heat, the filling was sweet, and there's hardly any fragrance from the chili oil. It's very suited for the masses and not intense at all I've had a few of their items so far and while everything is around the same standard, some dishes are more authentic than others, so pick wisely. Overall no reason to specially visit, it's pleasant but not a standout

Moonlight Char Kway Teow KEK is a well-known zhi char place here at Alexandra. Getting parking lots here will always be a challenge here during meal times. Gets very packed in the restaurant as well, so make your reservations before coming down. 1) Signature Moonlight Hor Fun - one of their signature dish, strong wok hei with thick and sticky texture due to the 2 raw eggs. A must have here 2) Sharing Platter - Golden Pearl Roll - Prawn roll - Yam Basket - You tiao with Seafood Paste - a great platter for sharing, especially to try their signature Golden Pearl Roll & Prawn Roll. - all crispy and tasted good. Must order item. 3) Crab Bee Hoon Soup - Not their signature dish, but soup was flavourful and crab was fresh. 4) Claypot Liver - a must have dish here. The best dish today, sauce was damn good and liver was not overcooked whatsoever. Just right. 5) Coffee Pork Ribs - very distinct coffee taste. Pork Ribs were tender and the first plate to be cleared today. 6) Salted Egg Sotong - lots of good reviews on this and rightly so, most value for money, as the sotong pieces seem to be endless. Butter Chicken with Basmati rice $5.50 for the Butter Chicken with Basmati rice, $1.00 Vegetable, $0.70 Egg. The dish did not dissapoint. Chicken was tender. The gravy is tasty and not too spicy. Going back to try their beef stew another day. Slightly above average.

Beef Stew Rice A quirky stall with only this and butter chicken. It's pretty and not bad but also not cheap lah. Good beef that's gamey and fatty. Apart from vegetables, the stew was also intense with herbs.
