We thought we should get a pasta with a little meat so we ordered this tagiatelle full of tender, thick clumps of pulled beef. Definitely a delight for the senses but it couldn't beat the crab.
We were greedy for a third so we tried the ever-safe choice of carbonara. The ciriole sure was thick and chewy and definitely lent a unique house-made dimension to this dish. The carbonara was done the authentic dry style which was satisfying with the cheese at first but got a teeny bit clumpy in the end.
One of the more eye-catching restaurants under #burpplebeyond at ๐Suntec City, @madforgarlicsg offers pizzas, pastas, and mains with a focus on well... garlic. I quite liked the dark, mysterious interior of this corner restaurant, which lends it a swankier feel than other cafes at this price range.
This pizza was simple yet stunning. The toppings had us scratching our head because they comprised shrimp, pineapples, garlic chips, and decadent layer of parmesan cheese, but they all came together beautifully. I also loved the cripsy thin crust, which I found myself devouring even though I usually leave my pizza crusts aside.
I was on the fence about asking them to ditch the pineapple but I'm glad I kept them on because they really helped cut through the pungent garlic chips. A must try to stave off the vampires!
Do not be fooled, this pizza holds itself out as a cheeseburger but tastes more like a big mac ๐ maybe for legal reasons...? The toppings were alright but tasted kind of strange with the thin crust.
Set in the old building of ๐ Fortune Centre (Bugis area), you can enjoy handmade pastas at @pastaandco -- choose between interesting choices such as squid ink tagliatelle and roasted capsicum with paprika spaghetti with your sauce base. For me, there were hits and misses but I don't think I'll return.
๐ 1 for 1 with #burpplebeyond ! ๐ But take note that the 1 for 1 is only for the small sizes so you'll have to pay the difference in price (~$5) for each dish if you want to get the full size. I do recommend you do this because even the full size wasn't that hefty.
This pasta was the star of the show! I doubt I'll ever be properly satisfied by a solely cream or tomato based pasta ever again after tasting this. To be honest, the vodka doesn't taste like much but the piquant tomato, savoury bacon, and cream formed a perfect combination of flavours. The dish comes with "bird's eye chilli" as well but the spiciness wasn't too bad.
This was a fair attempt at the Italian classic, but came across a bit dilute and too peppery. Oh well. At least the fusili lunghi was fun to chew on!
Crispy but a bit too chewy inside. Worth a try but it's nothing special.
Took a chance ordering something I've never encountered before and was rewarded. Chilaquiles are a breakfast dish comprising corn tortillas cut into quarters and fried in a salsa/broth, then topped with cheese and eggs.
I thought the corn chips would be soggy after being doused in the spicy sauce but they still retained a mouth-watering amount of charred flavour. The proportion was also quite reasonable for the price โ I'm definitely getting this unique dish again if I'm back.
This was another rare dish you don't really see in other mexican places in Singapore โ elotes are a mexican street food involving roasted sweet corn covered in salty cheese, fragrant herbs and creamy sauces. I was really excited to try these because they sound so good! Alas, the elotes I got were actually flavoured very well but the serving size was so tiny I really don't think it's worth it for $9.
This might seem simple but it was quite delicious! The roasted corn provided me with pops of juicy sweetness and went well with the white cheese. I love it when something tastes as good as it looks.
I thought going for the quesadilla is quite a safe choice but I was kind of miffed how small these were! Could also barely taste the chorizo and avocado.
Hmm can't say I enjoyed this much. Maybe it's because I'm only just figuring out I don't like mole โ it tasted like fake curry sauce, and the whole dish was drenched in it.
