For only $11.50++ π
Also, rice bowls at ramen places are a good deal! The full size roast pork and flavoured egg on rice is only $6.50++! P.S. I think iOS 11βs portrait mode has made a significant improvement! π
But this is my first ever matcha kakigori at Matchaya... What took me so long?? π€£ Absolutely love the strong matcha taste ππ I usually prefer houjicha over matcha, but this may be one of the rare occasions matcha wins! Itβs been a while so I need to eat a houjicha one next time to be sure π
Iβm very glad that my companions agree one person can easily finish one of this π
Yuzu salmon and mushrooms tendon at $17.50++ π Besides the salmon flavoured with yuzu, thereβs also 2 prawns, a Japanese green pepper and SIX different kinds of mushrooms, like oyster, shiitake, enoki and a special flowery one thatβs my favourite! Too bad the spicy version had toned down considerably, but you can still help yourself to the chilli powder (and tendon sauce!) at the side π
In general, we could only detect one mouthful with yuzu flavour, so more yuzu please! If only the big juicy prawns also came with yuzu flavour πThe enoki mushrooms was the greasiest, so I didnβt really enjoy that, but the portion is so generous we find it really hard to finish one bowl by ourselves π
Hereβs some tips to avoid the perpetual queue:
1) Mondays are better than Fridays
2) 1:30pm or after 6pm is the best on weekdays
We queued for 40min outside the restaurant and waited another 20min for the food to be served. Nonetheless, this remains my favourite tempura place in Singapore! If only they can do a poached egg π€€
After serving, they will drizzle a home-made sauce which reads wasabi dressing on the menu, but just seems more like onion dressing. They even say that we can request more of the special sauce if required! But I think itβs already very very flavourful π
I was struggling to finish this cos thereβs really a lot of roast beef! I like that it was not overcooked and it was seasoned with black pepper π
If you like ramen but dislike meat, they have a bowl full of vegetables that is perfect for you!
But itβs time to move on!! Looking forward to try the autumn offerings π
Hmm, for the price, I would expect a better variety or quality of the ingredients... The only interesting part is the raw quailβs egg. The βspecial sauceβ tastes heavily of soy sauce π
Would be better if there is some sweetness to it.
The lunch sets, like the oyako-don for $13.80++, are more value for money!
Made only from coconut water and coconut flesh, no wonder this taste like real coconuts in smooth frozen form π this is sprinkled with gula melaka powder for a sweet touch.
You must try this while they have the $1 off! No expiry date for the offer for now π
Top up $3 for a set with either coconut soft serve or coconut shake. I recommend that you grab a friend and try both!
There's only 2 choices for dons, this comes with grilled beef, onsen tamago, cajun fish sh-prinkles on Japanese rice. If you don't take beef, the other option is honey miso chicken. The yolk is soft, but I did wish it was more runny! Mix everything together before you eat and you get a very yummy bowl with a delightful crunch from the fried fish skin with a hint of spice.
Today was the first day of their soft launch so we had $1 off every order π Find them just opposite Hakumai, only 5 seats are available!
I was really impressed with the crispy skin of the duck with just the right amount of fats π€€ It's like the next best thing to roast goose in Singapore! Wish my char siew was smoky charred, but it's tender considering the meat is quite lean.
You may need to queue a bit for this, I'm glad I arrived after peak hours π
Find them at Unit 60 π
βΊοΈYou can expect STRONG but not overly sweet flavours!
Sometimes, I don't like to read/ask about what's inside the kakigori so that I get a nice surprise π In this case, I love the ingredients inside! ππ
Hope to have this again by end of the week before their menu changes again!
π But in it's place is another Thai style wanton mee! $4 for a generous bowl of springy noodles with 3 shrimp dumplings, char siew and veggies.
I simply mixed everything together and I didn't expect it to be so HOT!!!! πΆπΆπ
π
I added some soup attempting to water down the spiciness, but it didn't help much π
I see that they use CP brand of frozen dumplings, but it was good π
Find them at Unit 01-65!
So this was what I was thinking of when I had my lunch today... π€€ ππ
Only $4 more than what I paid today, but tasted much more satisfying π
The beef was cooked just nice and it was really tender! π I'm glad that the uni was not fishy and with the ikura, they made nice toppings for the fried rice π
