Heard about The Coffee Academics coming to Singapore and wanted to try this out. Wasn't feeing too hungry so I decided to get a Mac and Cheese and a coffee (of course). Well he Mac and Cheese was recommended by the staff and its alright. When you eat more of it, perhaps you can taste more of the flavours of the kale and cheese (or perhaps I just didn't mix it). Macaroni was a bit dry, could have added cream to allow the macaroni to be less dry, while creating a fuller flavour. Coffee had body which makes it good. I always think that coffee should have its body, otherwise it's not coffee.

Where else can you find an Aburi Chirashi bowl and a Wagyu beef bowl - both which are slightly cheaper (just because you are in school)!? Although the Chirashi is a bit lukewarm, the taste of its sauce with the Aburi is just great! The Wagyu Bowl was also not bad, with the beef being tender and tasty as well. The fried soy chicken wings, if dipped and soaked in the soy sauce is really good! This is definitely worth a try! #NUS #burpple

Let's put it this way - the Bibim Patbingsu just looks too good to be eaten, it is simply a work of art!! However, when you start to mesh everything together (just like any other Bingsu), feeling slightly heartache from ruining this, you will not regret eating it. There is just different kinds of fruits inside that, when eaten with the shaved ice, brings this rice fruity taste to it. What's more - when you mix in with the cream from the "egg" on top of the Bingsu and eat it with the fruits, the taste and texture is nice. As with all Bingsus the price is about the same, but it is certainly great to refresh yourself with this (especially through the fruits) after having all that meat from Korean BBQ. The other one we had was the Dongdaemun Patbingsu and this is for all who love 1) bananas and 2) ovaltine. This was good as well, but the Bibim Patbingsu with all that fruit is still the better option. Well... To each his/her own! :)

This salad was just AMAZING - just because it was so truffle-infused it just smelled and tasted so great! This is the Asparagus Salad and I tried it during the first time I went for a wedding set in a cosy small little restaurant, where food was served in their normal meal portions for a group of 4-6 guests to try. Nonetheless I believe this salad is also offered on Halia's regular menu. The asparagus is stir-fried and infused generously in truffle oil. It is mixed with rocket leaves - which was not too bitter because of he asparagus and other items in the salad, bacon and topped with an onsen egg. I feel that the onsen egg, if "broken" and mixed with the salad, doesn't really give justice to the truffle-infused asparagus. Thus you can either try it separately or have it mixed slightly with the leaves. Other food in the Halia's menu is great as well and if you have the time and money ($$$- not really cheap since it's at he Raffles Hotel) you may want to give it a go!

Seems like there is a new kid in town (well in UTown of course - lame). But this is there new kid on the block. From the people at The Tiramisu Hero brings this new cafe concept called "Butter My Buns". The food works in a "Cai peng" (aka local mixed vegetable rice) style where you choose the kinds of things you want on the plate and it will be assembled for you by scratch. The scrambled eggs were done quite well and the salad was not bad. But the waffle hash is just simply THE THING to go for!!! It is such a brilliant idea to combine hash browns into one piece of waffle! However, the wait for the food was long since there were many orders but also not enough manpower/equipment for turnaround - we had to wait for about 30 minutes. Nonetheless this food is good and rather reasonably priced - considering it's a cafe on campus ground.

If you are a person that likes the French-styled pocket, you may want to consider this bowl of Summer Chicken Stew. The chicken is moist and tender - which was the kind of texture that I liked!! - simmered in a rich, cream based sauce made with sundried tomatoes, herbs, potatoes and carrots. The pieces of sourdough were just a perfect combination to go with the cream-based sauce. Surely the chicken was good since it was not dry and matches rather well with the sauce, and the price is still alright for something at a cafe. There are also no additional changes as well (since the last time I went in March 2016).
