Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun Located in small town in Ipoh famous for their local food this particular restaurant has been for many years. Famous for its Dim Sum. But this particular dish is my favourite Prawn Chee Cheong Fun silky smooth and melts in my mouth.

Dim Sum Sui mai, egg tarts, pau, porridge and more available here. Reasonable priced too. Breakfast-to-have in Ipoh Town!

Overrated Dim Sum Overrated yet pricy. Service is not that friendly either.

“Jiu Her Eng Chye” - Malaysian Style “Jiu Her Eng Chye” is a dish of blanched cuttlefish and kangkong smothered in sauce. Singapore’s version combines a sweet, maroon-colored sauce with chilli in an orangey hue. Assuming the one I had today is a good representation, Ipoh’s has a smooth satay sauce with distinct notes of coriander and curry. I love how the kangkong here seems to be juicier and a lot less fibrous in spite of its thicker stems.

Duck Egg Char Koay Teow Please correct me if I am wrong but I think it isn’t possible to find duck egg-fried noodles being sold on a regular basis in Singapore. Which is why when I am in Malaysia and happen to come across a stall selling “char kway teow” with duck egg, there is no way I won’t order a plate on the spot. With lots of chilli of course. Shown above is the one from a tiny stall squeezed into the front corner of the old coffeeshop that’s connected the iconic Sekeping Kong Heng. It was power-packed with “wok hei” and so mouthwateringly tasty, we had to immediately order two more plates after a few bites.

Ipoh famous curry Mee Restaurant Xin Quan Fang famous for the curry Mee opposite the police station in Ipoh town. You could smell it from a mile away. Couldn't get such quality in KL full of flavor & super delicious. Small bowl RM5.50 additional side order RM7.00

Eating in Ipoh sometimes, feels like eating in HK. Here in this coffee shop, people can be little bit impatient, need to queue for a seat and wait for your order to be taken. The highlight here is the assorted meat with the special dip sauce. Love hate

Good morning! Started our day eating the famous curry noodles at Xin Quan Fang. The noodles are nothing to shout about but try eating them with the side dishes of chicken, roast pork and prawns served with bean sprouts and the special curry chilli gravy. The braised roast pork is from their own recipe and cannot find anywhere else. Woohoo, no more sinus!

While the chicken meat is lean, it was still tender. Ipoh Hor Fun! This bowl of soup hor fun was so comforting. Personally found this soupy rendition far better than the versions we have back home in Singapore (where usually the noodles + chicken + beansprouts are all served together and drenched in soya sauce). Carrot Cake Zonut Thanks to @wilyang and @yangsueann, I get to have a piece of Zumbo's magic! His cronut beats all others I've tried, the exterior crisp and flaky; the layers of pastry buttery, soft and just very slightly elastic. This carrot cake interpretation is also clever – the sweetness of the cinnamon sugar, icing sugar, frosted walnuts and spiced carrot cake sponge is balanced out with a surprise core of lemon cream cheese. Took every ounce of willpower in me to save half for @titusaurus.

Banana Bread - Really Just Toasted Bread With Banana Flavour Banana bread comes with butter in Aussie. Cinnamon butter in this case.. for $12 😱 the portion was huuuggggeeeee (sole comfort for the price). I enjoyed the caramelized crust but wished there was more texture.
