(Unfortunately waistline also started to expand!) 😂

I really like their seafood white beehoon. Everything works well together in this dish. I used to eat here regularly when it was known as Angsana. The nasi padang is amazing (for the limited choices available around SGH). If you can get the aunty at the cashier on your good side, then all will be well for you... I'm sometimes scared of her cos she can be so fierce. 😂 #Burpple

Because I always pig out to the point I never have enough space for dessert haha (oops). 🙊

Did it live up to my expectations? Welllllll, I tried a few flavours. They were nice but was it angels-singing-in-my-mouth level of mindblowing? Probably not. Some flavours were too subtle, like vanilla fig. I like my gelato filled with so much damn flavour such that when you take the first bite, it's like something punched your taste buds with deliciousness, and it hits your consciousness soon after, kinda like "oh my God, what did I just put in my mouth?" y'know. Sadly, I did not get that with Birds of Paradise, but then again with their calm minimalist decor, maybe that's not what they are aiming for.

Another flavour I tried was chrysanthemum. It was nice and not as sweet as Licktionary's (which may or may not be a good thing depending on your preference). I got spiced pear in the end, and I admit it was enjoyable. Like I'm having snow pear soup in ice cream form.

Worth $4.70 for a single scoop? I guess so. But I'm still waiting for the day Gelato Messina comes to Singapore. #Burpple

It has become my go-to place when I want some nice fusion food near my place. 👍

We got the smoked duck & yuzu kosho scallions, wagyu beef open lasagne, fried halibut & kimchi roll, and seabass somen (not pictured). Very generous portion of smoked duck for $18. The yuzu kosho scallions were very refreshing and really opens the palate!

The wagyu beef lasagne is a nice warm hearty dish. Apparently the lasagna sheet is made in-house, so no wonder it has a nice al dente QQ texture. The beef was also soft and tender. Highly recommend this dish! So full of flavour! For the price of $28, sure it's a little pricey but it filled me up nicely.

I also really liked the halibut roll. The kimchi wasn't overly spicy or overbearing. The halibut was also lightly battered so when you bite into it, you're getting a good batter to fish ratio! 😛 It doesn't come with any sides, but I think it's fine on its own!

The somen is food for the soul. Generous servings of seabass and mussels. Get this if you like something warm and soupy in your belly.

Best part is that all prices are nett! Also remember to flash your @burpple app to get 15% off total bill (only until 31 Oct)! #dontsaybojio #burpple

It was definitely creamier than the usual brown version. I like how they provide chilli sauce (think it was Hainanese chicken rice chilli) to go with your curry. They must have had feedback that the curry isn't spicy enough! 😂 But Japanese curry isn't really meant to be very spicy so you need to adjust your expectations. The ebi fry were nicely coated with panko crumbs! Very generous portion... I was full by the time I had my second piece! The chawanmushi was smooth and silky but I can't taste the truffle! 😢

Will I be back? Yeah! I want to try their iberico pork katsu next! 🐖 #Burpple

I've been eyeing this place for ages since it appeared on several food blogs! 😆 But I was disappointed! Salmon was sadly way overcooked to the point of it being hard! The mentaiko made up for it though! Think the highlight of this dish is the homemade mashed potato with gravy... Surprisingly tasted really satisfying 😋 The aglio olio was average and nothing to write home about.

Would I be back? Well, I want to try the cod with white wine and truffle oil! Too bad it was sold out today. But I wouldn't get this dish again... The mentaiko cod and chips wasn't too bad but the fries really cannot make it sia. Has an identity crisis since it doesn't know whether to be seasoned with paprika or drizzled with truffle oil... 😂

The day was made better by buying cake from Chef Yamashita afterwards and eating it during meeting! 😛 #Burpple

Upon seeing such a massive crowd each time, I decided to buy some. Muffins aren't usually my thing so I was initially hesitant, but the troves of people carrying bags filled with muffins convinced me otherwise.

From first bite I was hooked. Moist, fluffy, and with a surprise filling inside. It's a good afternoon tea-sized portion. Only $1.65 ($9.90 if you buy 6, otherwise $1.80 each) each for a delicious snack after lunch. It's cheap AND good. What's not to like? I've been buying 6 pieces every time I see their stall at Heart Centre (just outside the food court). 😄

Check out the cross section for banana flavour - a chocolate muffin base with banana filling inside! It's very hard to stop at one... 🙊 #Burpple

This unique collab has won me over! We got ~everything~ on the menu except for tofu fries. (Go big or go home right?) I've eaten at Artichoke a few times but never at Joo Bar even though I've been meaning too so I guess this was a good excuse.

Fave was definitely the fried chicken with garlic toum. The chicken was fried perfectly and the sauce was so good I shamelessly got another serving of it hah! Reminds me of the times I'd have charcoal chicken with ridiculously amounts of garlic sauce in Australia. Nostalgic indeed. Other highlights included the fries with fried haloumi cheese and crabbibi. The lamb shoulder in the lambokki was good too but a tad bit salty. But I'm not a fan of tteokbokki so this was meh for me. The neh neh pop ice cream was nice. I could taste the makgeolli but not enough of that yucha swirl! Sadly the rice crispies had gone soft already. I've tried a few neh neh pop flavours but I can never ever justify the price haha.

Overall, the food was fantastic but just a bit on the salty side. Still, they got the flavours down pat. I want more of these collabs please. So sad this is a one day only event! The fried chicken should be on the permanent menu just saying~ 🙃 #Burpple

Only $2 or $3 a pop! My favourite was Burley Lagoon! The bigger sized ones are actually cheaper haha! Super fresh and properly shucked! Loved the vinaigrette and horse radish that came with it too. The tapas dishes were good too. Get the hamachi cheek and pork ribs if you can't decide - can't go wrong with those two. Hamachi was silky smooth and the pork meat literally fell off the bone. Would I be back? For the oysters yes! It was a tad bit too pricey for everything else though! 🙊 #Burpple

Originally wanted to try the @chatramuesg Thai milk tea soft serve but they were closed on weekends! Well their loss 😝 because I randomly stumbled upon Licktionary and was so pleasantly surprised by their flavours!
I got "Happy" (orange+horlicks) and "Peace" (vanilla+chrysanthemum). Both were so good! Orange and horlicks went very well together and neither overpowered the other. I could taste both orange and malty horlicks flavours. And "Peace" tasted exactly like the Yeo's packet drink! Both very refreshing and not jelak at all (ended up finished 2 scoops after a filling lunch ahahahaha #greedy). I have high expectations when it comes to ice cream and this one got my stamp of approval! Totally recommend this! 🤗 #burpple

Presenting Francis Drake - Abuelo 7 years + passionfruit puree + homemade cinnamon syrup. Sweet and fruity with a nice kick from the rum! It was love at first sip! (And the geek in me chose this because of Uncharted! - which I have yet to finish)

Also got the jerk chicken and curry curry goat for mains using the 1-for-1 Entertainer app deal! Chicken was nice and tender while the goat curry was full of flavour. Kept eating it even though we had already run out of rice cos the flavour was so addictive! I love how the rice was topped with a slice of fried plantain.🍌 I'm not a fan of coleslaw but their lemon lime slaw was really refreshing and balanced the heavy flavours of the chicken and curry.

All in all, a well rounded and satisfying meal! Couldn't have chosen a better place for a hump day dinner! Will be back for more! 😗 #burpple

The salted egg soft serve was very subtle and I had to concentrate hard to get the taste of salted egg. And was disappointed that the soft serve was actually hollow inside haha! 😂 The waffle was light and fluffy but would have preferred it warmer when it was served. It turned out to be just room temperature. The curry leaves are a nice addition. Would I get this again? Probably not for the price of $18++. Unfortunately fell a bit flat for me. 😯 #Burpple

😂 I'm not usually a big fan of tamagoyaki but THIS tamagoyaki was surprisingly sweet and fluffy and full of flavour! I felt like having more! The salmon belly was really nice too. Sad that the portion of uni was quite laughable but the fat pieces of sashimi make up for it. The rice also looks like it's mixed with furikake and mushrooms which is a nice change from the plain Japanese rice. Original price is 48++ for dish! I like this chirashi don but I'd only go back if I get the 50% discount, otherwise too pricey for me!

Make sure to use @eatigo_sg app to book to enjoy 50% off when dining from 6pm onwards! #Burpple
