This small potato croquette/ball was so perfectly executed and it’s essentially a warm crispy ball of fried potato, perfect for a cold rainy day. Nacho cheese and Mayo were also served on the side.
Few places do tangsuyuk well and they’re often very overpriced. Thankfully, this tangsuyuk was lightly coated with batter and remained relatively crisp even with the sweet & sour sauce poured over the meat. There was also a nice amount of black fungus, purple cabbage, carrots and onions to cut through the richness of the dish! 🤩
I was disappointed with the jp as there were no clams or prawns in the noods VS what was shown on the menu HAHA. There were only a few minuscule pieces of squid and I felt the quintessential seafood fragrance was lacklustre in here 🙃
The jjm coated every strand of noodle well after mixing and there was a generous amount of onions. This was a no frills dish and our cravings were satisfied 👌 Apart from that, I’d wish for a bit more meat to add some texture & dimension to the noods ✨
Traditional mjk:
• original bssm ($1.60): 7/10
The bssm was q grainy and slightly bitter without being too dry. :,)
• green tea peanut ($1.30): 8/10
I love peanuts and this mjk was slathered with the chunky kind of peanuts to provide a nice cronch! The green tea skin also gave off a subtle fragrance that wasn’t too overpowering.
• original coconut ($1.30): 8/10
The coconut tasted fresh and slightly sweetened, quite typical of a normal coconut mjk!!
Munchi mjk:
• charcoal matcha ($1.80): 5.5/10
I was looking forward to trying this but I was honestly q disappointed as I felt that this should be “green tea” instead of matcha 🙃🤡. The flowy-ness of the filling was great but it’s defo NOT matcha per se.
• original strawberry cheese ($1.80): 8.5/10
Contemplated getting this flavour and I’m so elated that I got it!!!!! There were bits of strawberry in the cream cheese filling and my fam really loved this one + it’s so special & pretty ✨✨ please get this to try!!!!
• green tea Belgian choc ($1.80) 8.5/10
I enjoyed this flavour a lot as the green tea skin went extraordinarily well with the dark choc filling!!! I placed the mjk in the fridge so the choc would harden (last pic) and I LOVED it so much 🤤🤤🥺 DEFO would get this again and you shld try too!!!
Overall: I’d say the prices of these mjk are much higher than the usual mjk so I wouldn’t travel there specially to get them. However, I’d get the strawberry cheese and Belgian choc flavours if I were to pass buy! 🤪
Wayyy overdue but we finally tried @koriosg!! This was the Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($13) with caramelised onions, American cheese and cheddar cheese 🧀 . The bread used was a wholewheat sourdough which was quite light on the palate so it didn’t overshadow the cheese and onions.
The generous amount of caramelised onions also helped to cut through the cheese mixture so it wasn’t too surfeiting to stomach 👌💯 I’d honestly reco sharing this and another sandwich so that you can try more flavours and not get too sick of the cheesiness 🤪
• Orange & Choc Escargot ($3.80): 6.5/10
Okie I’m not a huge fan of this kind of orange in my food so I knew I wouldn’t really enjoy it as much as a lot of y’all; don’t come at me pls 🥲
• Apple Danish ($3.80): 7/10
The apples were slightly tangy and really aromatic but tbh I enjoyed the pastry the most!! I loved how the pastry remained crisp and held up the fillings really well 🤤
• Pain au Chocolat ($3.50): 7.5/10
Choc batons wrapped within the pastry - what else can we ask for?? (Okie apart from even more choc keke) 🤩🤤
• Classic Croissant ($3): 8.5/10
This is defo my FAV and it’s very indicative that plain things can be great too!!! The layers were so flaky and buttery and I kept some for the next day. They tasted as amazing after reheating!! 🥺
Tried the Nutella, vanilla and Passionfruit ones the other time (check my previous review out!!), so I decided to get the Milo dinosaur donuts last Dec ☺️
The texture of the brioche donuts was immaculate as usual and they were super floofy ☁️!! The Milo cream wasn’t overly surfeiting or diabetes-inducing; and damn, she is thicccCccc 🤧🤩
The Milo biscuit was a lil soggy, albeit understandable since sg is humid. A side of Milo powder is also provided for you to go wild and sprinkle over them donutsss - the most impt component of Milo dino 🥰✨
Overall: I’d get an entire box of Passionfruit curd donuts as that’s honestly the BEST!!
Hence, my ranking for the donuts would be: Passionfruit >>> Vanilla > Milo Dino >> Nutella. (I haven’t tried the Pandan ones!)
PS: pls be prepared to wait a few weeks/months for the donuts tho HAHA
• Curry Aioli Fries ($10): 8.5/10
The fries were calling out to me + they sounded really delectable!! The fries were crisp and potato-ey, while the curry spices coated every fry well 🤤🤤 They were also served alongside a curry aioli dip (but I enjoyed the fries plain ☺️)
• Petit Breakfast ($12): 7/10
We wanted a small simple brunch so we opted for this. The brioche toast and sausage was okie/normal but the eggs were done well - luscious & not overcooked 💯(unlike some places oops)
• Lime Meringue Tart ($8.50): 8.5/10
Really enjoyed this tart as it wasn’t too sweet or cloying!! The chia seeds (?) also added an amazing textural contrast, while the tart itself stayed nice & crisp. The lime curd was also not overly egg-y (iygwim) and the touch of meringue on the outer rim added a nice creaminess. 🥰👌
Okie this was the genmaicha version and I surprisingly enjoyed it more as I loved the toasted rice notes that paired so so so well with the sweet azuki centre (last pic)!!! Defo a nice change to the usual matcha/hojicha items! ☺️
