We wanted to order 4 Set Bs (classic chicken noodle set @$16.80 each) with burpple beyond which meant that we should be paying a total of $33.60. However, they charged us $39.60 ($19.80 x 2) which was actually set A’s price. Upon clarification, the staff said that it’s because the burpple voucher is worth $19.80 so regardless of what we ordered we will be charged $19.80. This got us really confused so we showed the staff the menu on burpple’s website as nowhere in the menu stated that rule but he insisted that he needs to charge us $19.80 because we are using burpple beyond. Only if we are ordering set B normally then we will be charged $16.80 each.

Because they are charging us $19.80 anyway, I changed my main dish to the red tomyum seafood soup as I had initially wanted to order it but decided not to as my friends all wanted the cheaper option. The red tomyum soup was reaaaally good — the spice was very authentic, it’s sticky noodles is chewy and cooked al dente, and they were extremely generous with their portions of fish, prawn, calamari and scallops! As their set comes with a drink too, I chose Iced Thai Milk Tea, which was a refreshing match to the red tomyum soup :)

However, after we were done with our main dishes and excitedly waiting for our dessert (which was as included in EACH set), we were disappointed again. The staff told us that we’ll only be getting ONE dessert for 2 sets while the menu says that it’s supposed one dessert for 1 set. And they gave the same reason — because we used burpple beyond. As we were really quite done with the entire conversation, we just let it go and said it’s fine we will just have 2 desserts (even though we ordered 4 sets). But after that, they served 3 desserts which made us really confused, but we didn’t bother clarifying as at that point of time we just wanted to finish our food and leave.

Tl;dr food is really authentic with generous portions. However, do clarify beforehand what the burpple beyond menu includes and make sure all the staff are on the same page because different staff were telling us different stuff and we definitely felt cheated throughout the whole dining experience.

Initially visited pickleville to try their toasts but was really sad to find out that they are only available during breakfast hours :(

Nevertheless, the bowls were a pleasant surprise as the protein and veggies were extremely fresh!! Only downside is that it gets a bit dry after awhile and their drinks are pretty expensive.

Overall dining experience was still pretty good! The staff were really courteous, and the ambience was very chill and suitable for both hanging out with friends and a casual work discussion! Also, burpple beyond definitely made everything even better as we got 2 bowls at $15.50!

šŸ”: Fried Chicken Sandwich ($16+) and Mushroom Melt Sandwich ($16+)
šŸ’µ: Burpple Beyond

The fried chicken sandwich was amaaaaazing šŸ˜‹ The sous vide chicken thigh was succulent, with its buttermilk batter seasoning really on point and crispy even after being left for 10min! (We ate our mushroom melt first). The brioche bun was really soft and fluffy, and complemented the fried chicken really well!

Mushroom melt, on the other hand, paled in comparison for my friend and I. We didn’t like the bitterness of rocket leaves but there was a huge bunch of it inside. But with that said, we got used to the taste after awhile! The caramelised onions helped to add a tinge of sweetness to the rocket leaves, while the creamy mushroom added some moisture and texture to it!

The entire meal was also made better with Burpple Beyond ā˜ŗļø (paid $17.10 for 2 sandwiches!) Will definitely be back for more!!

Topped with slow-cooked egg, bacon, Parmesan cheese, onion and cream sauce, this carbonara was definitely one of the best I’ve tried. I personally prefer cream-based to tomato-based pastas but I get very turned off by gelat cream-based pastas. To my pleasant surprise, Marmalade Pantry’s Carbonara sauce was nicely crafted such that I could finish everything without feeling sick at all!

Will definitely be back for more carbonara! šŸ˜‹

This Seared Scallop and Prawn Linguine is truly a must-have at Marmalade Pantry!! The Japanese scallops were huuuuge, plump and fresh, and they were so springy and juicy that every bite tasted really good!! The whole tiger prawns were served with their shells half-removed, which made it really easy for me to eat them and also had their freshness preserved!! The prawn bisque sauce was also nicely mixed and tasted really authentic. However, it can be a little too fishy for some (just like every other seafood dish), so pairing it with linguine was a perfect option as the light and buoyant nature of linguine ensures that we get just enough prawn bisque sauce to make our tummies happy!

The meal was made even better with Entertainer’s 1-for-1, so we got this + the carbonara at $25 in total! Will definitely be back šŸ˜‹

Very amazed by their service! The restaurant was almost full but we waited only 10min for a plate of freshly prepared fish & chips!

The batter was fried to golden-brown and delightfully crunchy, with the flesh moist and fresh. This was accompanied by a nice serving of tartar sauce.

The thick-cut fries were soft and nicely seasoned. I personally love it when fish and chips are accompanied with amazing fries and Jack’s Place really did their job well!!

However, their salad was a tad-bit too healthy for me. There wasn’t much taste to it and I found myself having to swallow down the salad. :(

Found this S&D outlet inside LKCMedicine’s building and to my pleasant surprise, there’s a discounted menu for LKC students and TTSH staff!! Wasn’t craving for western food so decided to be bold and try S&D’s Thai Curry Rice and once again, S&D never disappoints!! The curry had a tinge of Thai curry feels, and yet not too spicy as well. The pork loin was tender and picked up the curry gravy really well, and stir frying it with long beans, carrots and tomatoes really added texture and a lot more flavours to it. Sunny-side up egg was also very well done and I really love bursting it and seeing the yolk flow all over my rice!!

$7.90 is definitely very worth it for such good food and ambience!!
