Poached Chicken Rice I found and ordered from this stall with high hopes, but... Chicken and soup were ordinary. The rice was a dilemma. On first tasting, it's almost as bland as white rice. ln general, though, the light taste grew on me and might be the USP for this stall.

Large coconut shake ($5). 1-for-1 with #burpplebeyond! An unassuming small shop space located in the Bukit Gombak neighborhood, Coconut & Fam serves coconut shakes that could easily compete with bigger brands and even taste better than some of them! For every new coconut shake brand, I’d always give the original flavour a try for the very first time. Other than how value for money their coconut shakes are given the large was really larger than usual, the overall taste and texture were quite balanced. Creaminess was just right, and the coconut bits were generously added. You can also customise the sweetness level to your liking. They also provide 2 small tables in front of the shop space should you want to enjoy and chill over their coconut shakes. Thanks to #burpplebeyond, we enjoyed 2 large coconut shakes at the price of just 1! Mindblowingly $5 for 2 large cups which meant that it was only $2.50 for such a quality drink! Found my new favourite coconut shake!

Fried Chicken Pieces Very tough and it seems like it was cooked yesterday or it was reheated a lot of times today. But the serving size was good.

Plain Dosa/Thosai We asked them to make it crispy and they did it very nicely! Chutneys were nice, too. $1.50 only!

Mushroom Prata ($2.90) Honestly, I haven't had a prata in ages (maybe 2 years or so). So long as the prata is crisp and less oily, it's always a good prata (to me). So thankfully, the mushroom prata I had at this neighbourhood Indian muslim place near home was both (crisp and less oily).

drumstick set + milo peng ($8) compared to the clementi outlet, this is more generous and has a HUGE chicken drumstick set! BUT the milo here doesn’t have crushed ice and not as gao👎🏼

Chinese Nasi lemak This is not your traditional Nasi Lemak that comes with ikan Kuning, ikan bilis, peanuts and fried egg. This stall along Clement Road opens until late into the night, feeds the hordes of hungry NUS students with comfort food. You can choose from a huge variety of add on from the ubiquitous chicken wing to the exotic teriyaki chicken and grilled Saba fish, fried brinjal, Sotong balls, braised pork etc. Looks more like a Cai Png stall than a Nasi lemak stall. But this is nice for those who wants Nasi lemak with lots of other stuff. Their chilli which is sweet with not too much heat, goes well with the fragrant coconut milk infused rice. Worth returning to even if just to try out what other add ons taste like with coconut milk rice.

Nasi Lemak Thought this was quite average. Rice had some coconut flavour but could be more fragrant, peanuts & ikan bilis was crunchy, fried chicken was decent, egg was q standard and chili had some heat to it but still relatively manageable. It’s okay la but nothing to shout about!

Squid ink fried rice! Finally visited Coexist Coffee Co. at Hillview! Took so long for us to visit this cafe outlet till they have changed out from the iconic red white layout! Now it is a grey industrial theme vibes already! Here is what we ordered: -Squid Ink Fried Rice ($26++): Super unique dish! Served in a claypot! There is tiger prawns, baby squid, and topped with lots of ikura! Very unique taste! -Chilli Crab Shakshuka ($18++): Comes with a huge tempura soft shell crab, chilli crab tomato dip, fried mantou and a sous vide egg! -Satay Quesadilla ($18++): Pulled pork satay with mozzarella and comes with peanut sauce! My favourite is per the above order ranking! We ordered 3 dishes as we were famished after 3+ hours of discussing reno stuff prior! Say hi to the new neighbouring neighbourhood!

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐀 𝟏𝟕𝟎 ($𝟏𝟎) Taste and texture-wise, its was too sugary on its own. But the luscious cinnamon cream balanced out its sweetness and made this dessert really enjoyable!

Brunch Forget about the nice views comments you see about this cafe. What views do you expect to see from an 8th floor rooftop surrounded by tall condominiums and a rainforest? Come for the food and coffee instead! We came on a Sunday. Reservations strongly recommended as the tables are limited. We ordered Chilli Crab Shakshuka, Squid Ink Fried Rice and the Coexist Breakfast. The Shakshuka did not disappoint. Large chunks of crab meat were mixed within the chilli sauce (more like tomato sauce with just a hint of spice). Six small slices of man tou was provided to soak up the gravy. Do remember to mix the egg into the gravy to give the whole dish extra silkiness. Next up, the Squid Ink Fried Rice was equally good. It came with chunks of deep fried prawn meat and whole baby squids, topped with Ikura and chilli. Rice was not greasy and tasted umami from the squid ink. The Ikura added bursts of flavour and there was also a certain level of heat coming from the squid and prawns. Probably the marinate they used or the mentaiko sauce spread on the plate. But yes it did accentuate the dish. Yums! The Coexist breakfast was normal. Nothing to sing about. I have to give special mention to their White coffee and Aero-Black cold coffee. So hot are very robust in coffee taste, the way coffee lovers like their brew. Just choose hot or cold. Certainly coming back to try the other items on their menu, even if this cafe is a little pricier than others and it is very ulu in terms of location. If you don’t drive, then Grab will be the next best alternative.

Cacao & Cheese Cake Hands down to the chef. 10/10 Cacao $16 Cheese cake $13

Live French Bouchot Mussel I thought blue cheese suppose to stinks? Hahaha but this is cooked with blue and i can say it’s superrrrr delicious. No kidding. And the sour dough bread is just wow. $36

Charcoal Grilled Australian Wagyu Bavette Steak Hands down to the chef that’s in charge of cooking the beautiful piece of wagyu for me. Rating 10/10 Melt in my mouth I literally wanted to cry because it’s so delicious 🤤 no black pepper or mushrooms sauce need man. It’s just the juice from the meat. Omg im literally drooling just thinking about this. $33 All i did was close my eyes and enjoy and savour the moment. I can’t wait to come back. Definitely my favourite. Oh definitely the best.

Nasi Lemak Bought their Fried 3 joint wing Nasi lemak set for takeaway (this outlet at Jem only has takeaway option) at $5.90 and added a banana leaf squid otah for $1.90. Arguably, the most important thing I care about in a Nasi Lemak is the coconut rice and the sambal chilli. Lee Wee managed to get both of this correct. The rice could have done withmore coconut milk taste but it was savoury in taste as opposed to sweet in many cases. The chilli had some heat in it but also just a little sweet. The ikan bilis and groundnuts were provided for in a packet to keep its crispiness but portion was miserly compared with the competition. After that, it was all downhill. The pale looking, batter coated chicken wing was almost soggy, not crispy at all. Wonder if it was because of the takeaway. The fish otah and the extra banana leaf squid otah were both very ordinary. Certainly the latter was not worth the money. As for the fish cake, it was factory made and fried some time ago. Not a good first impression. If there is a chance, I will try it at other outlets to see if dining in makes a difference.

Fish Otah ($0.75) Oh my goodness this was so good! Literally hot off the grill. It somehow just tasted 1000x better hot. Fish meat was big enough for me to chew. Wonderfully coconutty and fragrant. So spicy. I wanna eat this everyday.

Banana Leaf Otah ($1.50) Somehow this didn’t taste as fabulous as I thot it shd, given that it was twice the price of the smaller ordinary one. Yes it was bigger, but it was also flatter. Texture wise, it was softer and more melt in the mouth. The smaller one had more of a chew. Pretty spicy.

Authentic Italian Food Managed to get reservation and ordered few dishes such as pizza ($10), fried rice ball ($9), porchetta ($10), parmigiana ($15) & tiramisu ($16). For the quality, I would say the price is reasonable and really worth it

Amaretti They have a section of Italian bakes. This is an almond cookie that's soft inside. The almond whiff was very strong so I'm not a fan.

The Original Rebel Located at the same space with Epiphyte, occupying during the day serving their signature sandwiches. You are in treat if you subscribed to Burpple Beyond as you get to enjoy the set with drink for only $10. Choose any sandwich below $9.90 and your choice of drink. I would recommend to go with their original rebel, stuffed with chicken patties, creamy pate, rebel sauce, mayo, tangy Asian slaw and fresh coriander. So enjoyable with the overflowing ingredients in the sandwich, full with the taste and texture.

Fusion Banh Mi The original Rebel ($7.90) is stuffed with mini chicken patties and creamy pate. And oh wow! It was love at first bite. The baguette bread that is baked in-house had a satisfying crunch while maintaining an airy interior. There was a right proportion of chunkiness and meatiness from the patties that was balanced by the refreshing and tangy slaw. The Pesky ($7.90), is a lighter version filled with breaded dory pieces that were fried to a light firm crisp. The slaw completed the banh mi by giving it a crunchy and tangy tasty zing.

Hot Chick The rebel gurl basically serves Banh Mi. But there's nothing basic a out their menu, so many different variations of banh mi is available here. Decided to have the "Hot Chick", which consist of 2 fried juicy patties, their in house "rebel" sauce, mayo , asian claw and of coz coriander. The baguette was thin and crusty. Not very filling though, better get some sides with it.
