Another of those hawker stalls serving xlb comparable to restaurants'. Now I'm eager to try their other Chinese dishes.

This stall has maintained its standard even the son has taken over to help. Though it sells only white chicken the queue is never ending till sold out. Meat is succulent and tasty while rice is fragrant and yummy. Must queue to know why the queue never end.

Get both! so I decided to try this store instead of blogger's favourite Fu Ming.
Good decision as the white was fried to a crisp with a lot of egg and complemented well with the crunchy bean sprouts. Black one was savoury sweet with a load of cai por. Wok hei good wor~ no wonder there's a perennial long queue.
my dad did grumble that I've been eating carrot cake non-stop of late. Oops.

I tried the salmon mentaiko don today. The mentaiko sauce was very generous but the egg yolk was a little over done. Didn’t expect the tofu to be one big chunk though. Overall it was a well deserving meal. Not sure why the salad base is no Long available, but you can still opt for brown rice for a healthier choice. Yumz. #burpple #letsguide

This was a common sight at many tables. I could see many elderlies enjoying it. Ok.. it is a sign. 🔸️🔸️
The history of Jia Xiang goes way back 50 years. Mdm Chen, the 63 year old owner, started helping her mom when she was very little. And they have been at the same location for half a century.

The taste is quite old school. Gravy was brewed for at least 3 hours, is thick with a robust spiced undertone. A wonderful tangy and slight sourish finish. Garnished with tau pok, a hard boiled egg and very crispy croutons which tasted like pork lard. The homemade sambal chilli had a haebeehiam and dried chilli base that added the extra punch. The bright fiery orange appearance might scare some away. But it was not overly spicy. It was addictively good.

I did like it. It was an appropriate spicy meal to counter the scorching day. So are you old school or new school? For me, old school is the new school.

Whether fried or non-fried ingredients, everything taste freshly made. Their home made chili and sweet sauce is rich but well-balanced, bringing the ingredients to the next level of shiok! The stock is rich with umami without overkill. Most importantly, fill your cravings without emptying your wallet.

Ginkgo barley dessert

I call this the techno dessert stall because before you even see the stall you can hear the techno music playing from afar.

I particularly like the ginko Barkley dessert from this stall. Well cooked beancurd sheets and Fresh ginko ( gingko sold out today so no gingko left).

While waiting in line - you get free entertainment watching the Uncle dance 💃 his way while serving.

PRICE: $3
Available in $3/4/5 (used to be $2/3/4)

WAITING TIME: 3 min on a weekday afternoon (off peak hours)

NOTES: Still the best white carrot cake, with the most amazingly smooth texture. The amount of oil may scare some though.

One of my must eat whenever I'm at Redhill Food Centre! Value for money old school western food. ☺ Love the crispy bun that has absorbed all the buttery goodness! 😋

6 pieces for $4, very tasty and slightly sweet broth 😋 I’m always on the lookout for cheaper dingtaifung alternatives and I think this makes a great option. Other than this place there’s a few good ones at Chinatown too!

Good springy noodles! Always have this when we come here!
