Mentaiko Salmon Don I finally tried their Mentaiko Salmon Don (cooked) ($17.90) after so long of wandering for at least 2 years ago. Back in 2018, I went to Japanese Curry Express for Salmon Mentai Don with one of my poly friend. She also ordered same as me that time but we didn't wanted to share together because the portion was quite small but its quite filling tbh. I saw @foodee.diaree's reviews for 2 weeks ago and reminded me the shop still opened at there till now. I preferred Mentaiko Salmon Don to be uncooked but my stomach got some problems with diary products (I didn't want to take risk anymore and need to play safe) I felt that it was quite overwhelmed with mayo but I felt that their salmon was really fresh and so good.

Wagyu Beef Don I did asked my friend about differences between Tanuki Raw and Rakki Bowl for Wagyu Australian Wagyu MB5 (Signature Truffle Wagyu Don) - $14.90. She didn't answered my answers lol. (probably I just want to know the differences in terms of taste and pricing) I knew the pricing differences between australian and japanese wagyu in terms of quality.

Delicious Salmon Don Tamago is sweet and salmon not overly cook. Overall food is delicious Just that the music play in the store is weird

Crab Meat Curry Thai crab meat dry curry, the curry is typical Thai curry which is not too strong, generous crab meat cooked with eggs that creates this silkiness texture, with some chunks of bell peppers, i had it with omelette rice topped with kaylan steams. Yummy...Sublime.. so glad i tried this one! You should ask them to reduce the saltiness a bit if you don’t like things to be too salty like me. Apart from that, if you are a crab meat and curry lover, this is something you have to try!

String Beans With Minced Pork Don’t usually take string bean as they have a taste that i don’t fancy. But there isn’t any from this dish and paired it nicely with the minced pork.

Stir Fry Beansprout Witb Preserved Vegetable A piece of very simple dish that tasted so homely! Preserved vegetable add an additional dimension of preserved taste to the beansprout.

Amazing place Amazing place, good vibes, great service, and delicious food. Be warned about how generous the portions are here, as you might find yourself unable to finish the food! The beef was cooked to perfection, accompanied nicely by their wide selection of beers.

Dinner at The Drunken Poet I recently tried the Guinness Baby Back Ribs at The Drunken Poet and was pleasantly surprised by how good they were. The meat was tender and flavorful, and they looked amazing on the plate. The fries were also crispy and flavorful, which made for a great complement to the dish. While the seasoning was slightly stronger than I prefer, but it didn't ruin the overall taste. The atmosphere at the restaurant was really chill and comfy, and it's in a convenient location too. Overall, I recommend checking out The Drunken Poet if you're in the mood for a low-key spot with great food!

truly makes you feel like you’re in a pub in Europe loved the ambience of this place! had the fish n chips and beef steak with mash and fried dough as sides. i really enjoyed the mash - has a good amount of butter and salt. the fried bread side was also really tasty and unique! goes great with the steak and mash. the fish and chips were also really tasty with a crispy outer mouthfeel and fluffy on the inside. it also pairs great with the sauces on the side. make sure to order a pint of guinness to savour with the food! truly a great way to spend quality time with friends over good food and beer~

wasn't rly enjoyable tbh was told that it was burpple's regulations that we were not allowed to only use two 1 for 1 vouchers to order 4 mains if we had 5 pax. we could only either order 5 mains (two 1 for 1 voucher + pay full for the 5th main) or order 6 mains (3 1 for 1 vouchers). didn't rly make sense to me as i had previously used 2 for 2 at other outlets so it seemed abit scammy already right from the start. anyway, the staff was kind of rude when he told us about the drinks available, prefacing it w "i'll repeat this twice." if the service was not something we wouldn't come back over, the hamburg patty inside the burger + in the omurice hamburg set was soooo gamey 😐😐😐 didn't even wna eat >1 bite of it... the pork katsu & grilled chicken curry rice was not bad, quite average but the curry was pretty standard (like any other jap curry just that this is darker in colour) so nothing noteworthy. the supposedly WAGYU katsu was also very meh - tasted like normal beef or not even as good as that actually. friend said that the snow crab omurice ($27) was not bad actually except that the crabmeat inside the shell was a tad dry. otherwise the sauce was infused w crab flavour pretty well. total bill was $103.40 after service charge for a group of 5, which wasn't expensive but $20 for a meal like that... 🫠 all in all, considering the location, service, price & taste, we wouldn't revisit this place again.

Chicken Black curry & Lamb Don Ordered chicken black curry ($17) & Lamb Don SG01 ($19). Would have been pretty costly per pax, but it’s worth for the 1-for-1 deal ✔️ Tasty ✔️ Well-cooked Japanese rice 👍🏻 ✔️ Tender meat

Not good The pork belly has a very bad porky smell and taste.

Milkshake ($5) A tad pricey and the size a little small, but as i took a sip of the drink, the small size seemed rather reasonable because it was so gao i was taken aback by the intensity of the milk. First time giving their milkshake a try, but wow if you liked the milkiness of their softserve/gelato, you wouldn't want to miss this out too

Double Scoop ($7) I love their gelato! Has a really nice, creamy consistency, though they do melt quite fast. Not a fan of the cone though, its super airy and reminds me of the macdonalds kind of ice cream cone which i really abhore. Got the matcha and the double cheese. The matcha is quite alright, not too sweet though it wasn't as strong as i would've liked. The double cheese is really good though!

Hokkaido Soft Serve (Chocolate & Matcha) The soft serve was rich in flavour and extremely creamy, but the bear wafer added nothing as it was quite "lou feng".

risotto pollo ($14.90) risotto was cooked just nice, not too soft or too hard and sauce was quite nice as well. it had a good amount of spice while still retaining the sweetness of the tomato sauce. chicken was ok. portion didn’t seem big but it didn’t leave me feeling hungry so that’s good unfortunately a lot of their better sounding menu choices are excluded from the burpple deal :( also there was only one person working at the time but the place was p empty so that’s fine. overall q affordable with burpple for a fairly decent and simple meal, wouldn’t mind coming again but maybe not my first choice 👍🏻👍🏻

Al Grandchio Pasta was nice! A lovely surprise as it was pretty empty on a Friday night. Prices are pretty affordable, averaging below $20 per main. Only gripe is they don't serve water. Will try their pizza next time!

Sausage with paprika cream sauce $11.9, Bacon aglio olio $9.9 Super worth it with the 1 for 1 and prices are nett and food is good! The bacon aglio olio was very fragrant with the garlic and pepper and chili, and was slightly spicy. The bacon pieces were also quite generous. The cream sauce had a good balance of paprika flavour to the cream and it did not overpower the whole dish. Sausage was good as well, and did not taste like cheap quality and wasn’t too salty. The cream sauce might be jelak after several bites for some so recommended to share!

Chirashi ($18.80) ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️ 🍴Satisfying and hearty chirashi bowl that came with thick (I repeat thick) slices of sashimi. The salmon, tuna, hamachi (yellowtail), and mekajiki (swordfish) were fresh and juicy. We were less impressed by the crabstick, and the octopus that was tough and difficult to chew through (would have appreciated it softer/ perhaps grilled). That aside, we liked the toppings of salty seasoning and sweet salmon flakes that paired well with the moist sushi rice. Nabemono - Beef Shabu Shabu After walking through tons of cafes in that district, lies this unassuming japanese restaurant. No frills at all, the pink signboard was what made me found the place. I was craving for soupy food so I went with beef shabu shabu. The menu had almost no detail about it, I wished it had more description. When it came the marbling of the beef slices got us all looking at it in awe 🥩 🍲 Thinly sliced beef, accompanied with mushroom, tofu and an assortment of vegetables which are already in claypot. Beef definitely of better quality, portion of each slice substantial and satisfying. Lives up to being the limelight here. Nabe itself can have more depth to it by having more of different ingredients in it, making it an even more well rounded dish.

Meat Only Don Both Kazan guy don and unagi don ($16.80++) were tasty and generously portioned. The only improvement I hope to see is for the restaurant to provide miso soup or a small salad or some pickles along with their dons.

👉Mac & Cheese👈 Pretty well-executed with just the right amount of Emmental & Parmigiano-reggiano cheese. I wished the macaroni was more al dente... 。 Sadly, the cafe has closed its doors since last month...

Last Meal Looking at the photo, most people would have mistook this was from a restaurant. But its served by a friendly neighbourhood cafe which has sincr closed down. Great tender piece of pork belly with a side of slice potatoes. You will be greatly missed!

Demise Of A Great Place! Was surprised to hear that Birdy was closing. We had to make the trip for our final meal and despite ordering items that we have never tried, there were no surprises. Every dish were excellent as usual. What a shame to see them go 😥

Value For Money With Burpple Beyond Went on a weekday and it was pretty quiet and had a nice ambience! The food was just alright, nothing to scream about. However, if you are using burpple beyond, it’s very value for money! Also, a nice place to chill (they had a pool table!)

Roast Pork ($24) Overall, the dish delivers. The pork is mostly tender except the skin, which was unfortunately not at all crispy. It could be due to the fact that everything was doused in sauce. I really appreciate that they allow you to choose 2 sides and overall, the serving size was quite big so I think its quite value for money! We had this on eatigo so it made it even more worth.

Linguine Carbonara Bacon ($16) It’s very tasty, very very creamy and cheesy too. But the good thing is that it’s not jelak! Pasta is cooked al Dante, bacon is really fragrant and crispy. We’ll be back or more (even though waiting time is pretty long)!

Go For Their 1-for-1 Lunch Promo! 🍕 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 is my best-kept food secret. 🤫 Seriously, where can you eat a proper oven-baked pizza with quality ingredients (not the lousy ones from commercial chains like you-know-what) for less than $20?! AND get a 1-for-1 promotion? I’ve tried various pizzas from Pietro Ristorante Italiano, but my favourite is the unique 𝗣𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗮 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 🍕($𝟮𝟯.𝟵𝟬), which comes topped with generous slices of honey-baked ham, creamy white feta cheese, a wreath of fresh rocket leaves and a glorious oozing sunny-side-up egg in the centre. (On the day I went, they were out of rocket leaves, so they substituted it with other greens.) Baked in a proper fire oven, the pizza’s thin crust comes out unbelievably crispy, with a beautiful leopard mark char blistered on the golden brown exterior. Simply—*chef’s kiss*. 😘 The pasta is also delicious. I ordered the 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗼 𝗙𝗿𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶 𝗱𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗲 🍝($𝟮𝟲.𝟵𝟬), which is a seafood lover’s delight, with prawn, clams, squid, scallop, coated in a rich and creamy white wine sauce and sprinklings of reggiano cheese. My only gripe is that they could be more generous with the seafood—there was only one small prawn, and the scallop was missing. Otherwise, Pietro Ristorante Italiano is truly my favourite Italian restaurant in Singapore, for its highly value-for-money 1-for-1 lunch promotions and delicious food.
