(Pic 3) Asian Green (stir fried mix veges) rm26, extremely healthy, basically no salt no msg and I think it’s fried with water! 👍🏻
(Pic 4) Chicken&Pomelo (with lime leaf white coral mushrooms and sesame seeds) was the dish that I was looking forward but end up it’s the worst dish ever, it’s totally tasteless with a little bitterness from the pomelo, I’ve lost words to describe this plate of fusion artwork cost Rm38.
I would highly suggest to avoid. I think the concept of ‘south east Asia fusion cuisine’ was pretty attractive and that’s why I saw a few foreign diners were having their meals with a confusing look. The worst meal of the year. 😤

Used to be at Luk Lu Eating House at 341 Beach Road which I didn’t like to dine in, a super warm & rundown old kopitiam next to a big dirty drain 😖. Now it occupies an entire shophouse at 325 Beach Road, in fact it’s just a few shops away from the old location. The new shop is spacious and cleaner of corse. The way it operates is the same, self-service - order, pay and wait for your meals at the counter. The aunty got some helpers at the kitchen now and she’s more on taking orders and payments. Guess the fish stock was prepared in advance by herself in order to keep the secret recipe confidential?

There’re some add-ons on the menu such as fried chick wings, fried batang fish, fried spinach, black bean fish head with bitter-gout, and the prawn roll. It’s a smart move to have the add-ons as you can see most of the dishes are using the same ingredients required from the fish soup.

Tried both the steamed fish and fried fish soup, couldn’t tell any difference from the previous, it’s the same rich and flavorful soup broth, well cooked sliced batang fish remain juicy and tender. We’ve also tried the chicken wings mix with prawn rolls, decent but I felt it’s a little bit expensive though @ $10.

Geylang Lor 29 Fried Hokkien Mee @ Joo Chiat. I used to call this Fried Prawn Noodle Dry instead 😅 until recently I got to learn that Hokkien Mee are just so various from place to place. Be it Penang Hokkien Mee, KL Hokkien Mee or SG Hokkien Mee, they’re totally different in terms of the way of cooking, noodles, colors, textures and flavors. Penang Hokkien Mee (Penang Prawn Noodle) is still rank no.1 on my preferred list and I’m starting to appreciate SG Hokkien Mee better these days. I’d prefer a less soggy and dryer version of SG Fried Hokkien Mee. This wasn’t too bad, love to see the old uncles (seem to be regular customers) were also enjoying makan there. 🦐🦐

Dunman Food Centre. This was the first thing I saw at the point I stepped in the hawker centre from the side staircase, these blood cockles were bigger than the normal one! Take Ah Hua Kelong’s giant size blood cockles as comparison, this is considered M in the ‘SG Hum Size Chart’. Fresh but I think not as buttery, but who cares, size is the priority yumm😍! $6 per small plate.

Dunmam Food Centre. When come to fish, I become a cat. Highly recommended Fu Xing Mei Shi - Black bean sauce steamed Fish Head (half head) at only $13. Suggest to visit before 4pm otherwise minimum waiting time 1 hour in general. Fish was extremely fresh and well cooked in specific sauce, going back for other flavors e.g Nyonya and HK steamed soon. 😻🐟

The original stall from KL Chinatown with a historical long background, it’s considered as one of the best Charcoal Stir Fried Dark Sauce Fat Yellow Udon - KL version of Hokkien Mee. Never a fan of yellow noodle and dark sweet sauce, I only recall the noodle was smoky springy and smell perfectly with the lard fritters but felt there’s still a lapse of the wok-char flavor, maybe the open kitchen and the wok used were too new and clean 😅. The wonton mee behind the childhood memory. Too bad it's not in SG. This is good enough but would be perfect with less sweetness. Also the thickness of the black sauce was at higher end. Pictures taken can't tell it's the correct thin noodle that I'm looking for. Anyway, this is definitely satisfying, worth the visiting of the super dirty place 😖😆👍🏻🍜

😆It's proven that I know myself well enough, it's really not that nice 😅(personal preference). Aroy Dee is one of my fav casual thai food dining places, first time initiated to take the outdoor seatings for mookata. It's probably becoz of the limited pre-set menu and the pot they used was too small (according to my friend). Other than the pricing was low @ $34 for 2 (weekend price), I only have one thoughts, I really don't think I would enjoy this under SG's weather 😰
