Assorted Sashimi (6 pcs), 1 pc Gindara Teriyaki, 1 pc Ebi Tempura, 1 pc Teppanyaki King Prawn with Cream Sauce, 2 pcs Futomaki, 2 pcs California Maki, Choice of Tori Tatsutaage (Deep Fried Chicken) or Yakiniku (Stir Fried Beef), Miso Soup.
This is the most expensive set in their lunch set menu. The sashimi was fresh, gindara was ok. Ebi tempura batter was not too thick. The king prawn with cream sauce was absolutely yummy. Futomaki and california make were both huge and nice. Futomaki had breaded prawns in it. Yakiniku beef was just OK. I finished everything in the set. An above average meal, good for company lunches (not out of own pocket πŸ˜‚) if I were to return again, probably try their cheaper lunch sets. Many options available.

Thank you to my lovely dining partner for this $45++ treat. <3 (only available from 6-8pm!)

Their normal sashimi platter consists of perfect slices of swordfish, yellowtail, tuna, salmon and octopus. The fish was pretty average in terms of freshness, but they were the perfect size and thickness. And very satisfying to those sashimi cravings indeed.

My favorite dish had to be their unagi kabayaki. Tender, sweet and fatty, I ordered 3-4 plates of that perfectly portioned goodness. Their unagi maki is really the bombz too, a bulging piece of sushi with a huge chunk of unagi nestled with cucumber and tamago with an absurdly small amount of rice (just the way I like it :3)

I'd also recommend their yakitori sticks (tender grilled chicken thigh, yumz). For a more refreshing touch, add the teppanyaki mixed veggies (fried on a legit teppan). We also tried the yakiniku beef stirfry, which was also very flavorful and delicious. (it was a bit cold though).

Ambience-wise the restaurant was very quiet and the few people that came in appeared to be expats. Wait staff were friendly and efficient and food came in a reasonable amount of time. It was a perfect place for a quiet dinner and I really had a good time.

9/10

So I went for this beef udon instead of their more popular teppanyaki set lunch. Regret regret πŸ˜• The beef was in a big lump & the udon was not springy but rather β€˜flour-ee’. My first & last order for this disappointing soupy dish

How should I start? If you love Jap food, which I'm sure you do, you must get your Jap fix here. Most definitely. There isn't nothing to not love. The sashimi are fresh, the cooked food are so worthy of the calories, the chefs at the counter are so good to see them at work, the ground crew are very attentive even during busy times... but there is 1 dish you must try and you have to wait for a year - their Yusheng. It's a year long wait coz they only serve it during CNY. So you must NEVER miss this. You can miss any other Yusheng from all major hotels or whatsoever, but never this. It is full of flavours that will have you wanting for more. The ingredients, the mix, the sauce... everything pairs up so well. I can't go on since I'll have to wait for another 365 days for this. Moving on, their lunch sets are very affordable for that quality food and also don't wear anything with buttons, hooks, zippers or belt if you are having dinner buffet there. Go on, indulge in their buffet. I won't tell.

One can never get enough of their super fresh sliced sashimi. Also pufferfish sashimi coated with truffle (at back of the pic) was so heavenly yummy

Simple... yet U Wana have another mouthπŸ˜‹ the simplicity that makes it so yummy.

Oyster is a must! Fresh and meaty... Had 2 rounds each...πŸ‘

Ika topped with flying fish roe. Definitely one of the highlights of tonight for me... 😘

Doesn't look good but man does it taste good! The fresh sweet lobster enveloped by the cranny mayonnaise like sauce was not over cloying and simply delish!

Picture does not do their Sashimi n sushi justice. I can't recall the name of the fish but it's in the tai family. Very fresh and sweet. The Tamago sushi was different from the usual though similar to Tomi Sushi's - full of sweet yummy egginess

Just the right amount of garlic in this fried rice. The chef made a nice show of frying the rice.

Chef firing up the beef for that final touch. Nice! Don't go too near though... may lose ur eyebrows.

Done medium rare as requested. Very yummy cubes of beefy goodness. Teppanyaki chef was really good - big show of fire before plating up the dish.

Jumbo Shrimp Tempura Roll with generous and crunchy fillings. The fillings and the rice are in harmony. Best part is the sushi rice has the perfect texture of firm yet moist with a hint of Japanese Vinegar.
.
Yamagawa is an all round Japanese restaurant serving Teppanyaki, Sashimi, Sushi and A-la-Carte. Definitely a hidden find for me.
