The Home 回味之家 should not be a name that is too unavailable to those staying around Sembawang — these folks had been situated at the basement of Sun Plaza for quite a while, though the dining establishment did started out in Toa Payoh before making its move into Sembawang. They had recently opened a second outlet; this time within Bugis Street in the ground floor of a shophouse unit at 153 Rochor Road — they take up quite a substantial amount of floor space for the level of which is also the lift lobby for The White House Serviced Apartments. This outlet is bigger than their Sun Plaza location, though it does seem that The Home is keeping its offerings similar to what they have been offering at Sun Plaza despite the larger space here — the menu at The Home is being split into sections dedicated to noodles and communal dishes (think seafood, meat, vegetable and eggs), while a set lunch deal is available on weekdays where patrons can get noodles / rice / chicken / porridge dishes alongside 1 side dish and 1 drink.
We found ourselves going for the Stir-fried White Noodle during our visit made to the outlet at Bugis Street — The Home does not describe the elements that are being included in their various dishes; that being said, it can be observed from our order of the Stir-fried White Noodle that the dish does come with elements such as clams, fish cakes, shreds of omelette, pork slices and some leafy greens. One thing that is worth noting about the Stir-fried White Noodle from The Home is how it sits between being some that is being inspired by the Heng Hwa-style Heng Hwa Lor Mee and also the Seafood White Bee Hoon — a dish that can only be described as pretty much unique to themselves. The Stir-fried White Noodle does come with noodles that carry quite a good chew; all of that whilst coming with a savoury broth that comes with a bit of a smokiness from the fried shallots. All the other elements were pretty good to have; the clams being fresh and cleaned adequately without a sandy texture, while the pork slices also do not come with any undesirable porky stench. Adding the Sambal Belachan also adds another dimension of savouriness and spiciness that gives a further kick to the dish.
