Gather the fam at this new spot in Damansara Uptown for special Northern Malaysian dishes to share. Choose from a range of dishes to feast on: Ayam Masak Merah (RM15), Asam Pedas Pari Fish (RM30) and Okra Fritters (RM6), best eaten with their signature Tomato Rice (RM16). If you’re here for a quick lunch, order from their single plates menu with options like the large Mee Goreng Mamak (RM18) and Nasi Daging Air Asam (RM16), with tender pieces of grilled meat served alongside fluffy and fragrant short-grain rice. Ps. Temu is owned by one-half of the team behind now-defunct The Prep Room.
Also tried the recommended tomato rice featuring the fluffy short-grain rice. It’s not very tomato-y but it does have a slight tang. Comes with ayam masak merah that’s tasty, but the chicken was a little dry and small. They also serve ala-cartes for the meat and veggies, so get a side of that to eat with this.
Simple and tasty! Super tender slices of beef (which honestly reminded me of pork belly) that’s excellent with dipped into the asam water. Love the short-grain rice they use too.
Newbie in DU specialises in yummy northern Malaysian food – think curries, tomato rice and veggie dishes. This was a great snack to start with! Crunchy and salty, and it goes great with the chilli dip. It’s not as scary as it looks! Instead, it’s sour and garlicky with just a little heat.
