They say you never come to Batam or Bintan if you didn’t try this noodle dish.

In Tanjung Pinang that’s this place called the Aneka Ria, just a short walk from the ferry terminal is where many people would come here for the legendary mee lendir.

It is actually similar to Mee Rebus, with the normal portion comes with noodles and gravy. Topped with slices of egg.

Mie Goreng Bakso Pa'de Kirmanto is one of the popular place for Tanjung Pinang locals to grab decent mee goreng.

They used to located at another spot closer to the waterfront, but has since moved to this place with much bigger seating area.

Very similar to those mee goreng you can find in Singapore, but they add shredded chicken meat on the top.

When you ask the locals of Tanjung Pinang on what are some of the legendary dessert in town, they would direct you to this place called the Es Apollo.

Es Apollo has been serving their signature ice drink for many years since 1969. While the place may seems very rundown, but it doesn’t stop the locals dropping by to grab a cup of ice drink.

Pretty similar to chendol but this is more like a drink with ice on the top.

Let the ice on the top melt with the sweet drink underneath, and you would start digging the ingredients inside the drink.

It can get very sweet and there’s lots of assorted ingredients inside, such as red bean, chendol, bread pieces and others.

A very interesting drink and definitely worth trying.

Coming to Tanjung Pinang definitely must visit this popular street food at Potong Lembu, where the street will filled with food stalls in the evening.

They also recently revamped the dining space to be much organised and clean, but you can continue to order the foods and get them deliver it to you.

One of the most popular stalls here would be this stall that sell fried fritters, particularly the signature fried shark meat; or the locals called it the Sau He Pia.

Super crispy but soft meat inside. You also grab other items as well such as the fish cake and prawn fritter.

Bintan Island also has a population of Chinese, this is why you could find a few bak kut teh stall in the town of Tanjung Pinang.

Heng Long Bak Kut Teh is one of them and they opened as early as 7am. You would be surprised that many locals already coming in early to have their breakfast here.

The type of bak kut teh here is more on herbal size, go for the mixed version where you can different part of pork ingredients in the hotpot; which include the pig blood.

Going around Tanjung Pinang at night you would find this food stalls in many places that sell martabak, a snack like our traditional pancake in Singapore. But the version here is more towards the sweet side.

Martabak 1889 is one of the popular stall you can find here, and there’s topping that you can choose from. Such as the one I gotten here, comes with both chocolate and peanut toppings.

The pancake texture is more on the crispy side with generous filling in between. A good snack to grab at night here.
