[CLOSED] Seng Kee The Black Seed by Chef Benny (Bugis Junction)

Had a friend brought me here as she has been fan of this place. We tried the Toast Set ($4.30++) that included toast ciabatta! bread with kaya, 2 soft-boiled eggs and a tea/coffee, tho' I changed to iced milo for +$0.20. Also ordered the Cheong Fun set ($4.30++), and the savoury chee cheong fun was served with a nice sweet black sauce and that chilli! Yums. For those who like a twist on their traditional toast, it's worth a try if you're in the area, otherwise your neighborhood coffeeshop might serve the same and a cheaper price.

This non-air conditioned spot conveniently located at the corner of Bugis Junction serves local breakfast fare all day, and is a great Halal alternative to Toast Box on work days. Start your morning with the Kaya Butter Set ($6) — generously slathered, velvety smooth kaya and a slice of butter between two lightly toasted pieces of crusty ciabatta or focaccia bread. The set also comes with two perfectly wobbly 63°C sous vide eggs and a fragrant pandan teh-o. Come lunch time, the Chee Cheong Fun with Sambal Belacan ($3.20) and the Beef Rendang with Wild Rocket Sandwich ($7.80) make great, hearty meals that pair well with the Kopi Guyu (from $3) — black coffee with a shot of butter for an extra energy boost.

Major fan of CCF & this one is definitely worthy to be added in my personal list! ✔️ Had the aromatic pandan tea to go along w my meal. I guess pandan can't really go wrong w anything & this tea rendition is not only pleasant but also brings in a local flavor.

Their 63°C soft boil eggs is super power! The sous-vide egg is a thing of beauty. The yolks are runny and surrounded by tender white that’s so silky smooth.

We tried almost everything on the menu, and the kaya butter set (with focaccia) was seriously good! Firstly, the 63degree eggs were such a treat, and you know it'll be really consistent. I didn't expect the focaccia to work, but it was really light and crisp. The portion was big too, and the thick slab of butter and super generous slather of kaya obviously stole my heart. Kopi was more than decent too. While it's a little pricey for a breakfast set, I really wouldn't mind coming back for it.
