Premium kaisendon ($23) Leveling up their usual kaisendon, Teppeiās new bowl features a wider array of fresh sashimi pieces, tender unagi, juicy ikura, cubed cucumber, and soft tamgo. The sashimi is lightly marinated to feature the natural briny flavours. Their new homemade rich and thick sesame-based soy sauce is served on the side; a flavour bomb that elevated the fluffy Japanese rice but slightly overpowered the fish pieces. Personal preference was to separately eat the pieces with wasabi, and the rice with the sauce.
This premium set is highly value-for-money with the inclusion of salad - crunchy cabbage lightly tossed with sesame sauce, smooth chawanmushi, and udon. The latter was of enjoyable firmness and chew.
