Unbelievably good without adding fancy seafood like the ones we find in restaurants because the locals knows what's best and they bring it out with just the simplest ingredients which comes with lots of fat and oil but it's definitely worth the calories.

Serving Zi Char diligently in sleepy town of Ipoh since1963. I savored on some local dishes here this evening - 滑蛋魚肉面,月光河,豬肉湯,炸水餃,白灼八爪魚. I must say the food is not bad at all especially 滑蛋魚肉面, noodles made from fish meat and cooked up in a thick soup based with pork and veggies. Really yummy and indeed something I will want to eat again. Verdict: 3.5/5
It’s super smooth and GRAVY-ish, especially when you break the yolk and mix it. It smells super good too!!!
.
2️⃣ Octupus with soy sauce 白灼八抓鱼(13rm): This is super addictive!!! It’s chewy and flavorful. Doesn’t taste raw at all and it’s super good with the sauce! The chilli that comes along is QUITE SPICY and with a tad of sweetness.

These 2 dishes were definitely my favourites in IPOH! But... once again, this is not the shop that I planned to go😂. Because, Restoran Tuck Kee was closed... so I went to the one beside which is THIS SUN TUCK KEE! Hahaha, but nevertheless it was still a GOOD MEAL! You can give it a try at both of these shops since they are side by side & let me know which is better okay?! 😍😍😍

Boiled octopus drenched in sesame oil and soy sauce, then served with chilli. Simple yet addictive. RM10 for a small portion.
Ipoh old town is also famed for 月光河, superior cousin of the traditional Chinese 'Wat Dan Hor'. The egg represents the moon, hence naming this dish 'Moonlight River', which adds subtle texture to the noodles. Good for sharing as it could be too gooey for some.
RM6.50/portion as shown in the pic.
Freshness and crunchy octupos 👍
