Enjoy dining without burning a hole in your pocket, no membership required
Open all day, this versatile spot offers everything from a curry laksa lunch to a tai chow dinner. We especially enjoy the dinner service, when the kitchen cooks up a storm — think steamed fish, Guinness ribs and butter chicken. While there's no physical menu, the bossman (or his waiters) will be happy to help with recommendations.

One of my favourite places in TTDI for a quick lunch, and a place I always go to for chicken rice. Must-orders include the crispy duck and the steamed chicken!
This corner lot hawker stall is the designated evening haunt for TTDI folks looking for a hearty Chinese 'tai chow' dinner with the surprise of bottled beers. Start off with a bottle of Tiger (RM17.80 for 640ml), served with short glasses for sharing. When the man with a pen and paper in his hands approaches you, say OK to the deep fried golden Salted Egg Yolk French Beans (RM13). Another favourite is the Sizzling Tofu (RM12) that comes bearing smoke, sizzle and soft Japanese tofu on top of a thin, charred omelette. Pro-tip: Don't be frazzled by the lack of a menu. Name a category (eg: vegetable, fish, pork) and bossman will gladly recommend what's good!
Avg Price: RM20
Every now and then I would pass by this street-corner coffee shop and it has never crossed my mind to visit. Until today. Here's a promising tai chow place for some classic Chinese dishes in the evening (by day, individual stalls are set up, each specialising one dish). For dinner, try the Sizzling Japanese Egg Tofu (RM12) — steeped in thick soy, dished up on hot pan. Or the Salted Egg Yolk-style French Beans (RM13), the OG of the Egg Yolk invention. The Guiness Chicken could do a little more stout, not that I'm an alcoholic or anything. There is no printed menu here but the man who collects all orders seemed friendly enough on our visit that asking for dining advice shouldn't be too intimidating.
