First time having lunch here, I have order Banana Leaf Set Meal is really super cheap just costs RM5.20 including SST. The set include 3 vegetables, one pack of papadams, fried salted dried chilli, pickle, rasam and 3 choicee of curry sauce. The rice is refillable without any extra charges. The taste is considered still acceptable. Is really hard to find super economic set meal in Bangsar. So come for a try.
6.5/10
Yummy but spicy!
A small additional plate of Chicken Varuval to go along with whatever you're eating.
Take as much rice as you want.. Take as much curry and you want..
Not everything is free flow though!
The rice and curry both came hot! One banana leaf set comes with rice, curry, 2 vegetables, fried bitter gourd, 2 pieces of papadam, and dried salted Chili.
Service was fast, food also came fast.
located at raj banana leaf in telawi bangsar this is also a really popular shop to eat banana leaf in . Comes with 3 vegetables (cucumber , potato and fried bittergourd) along with 2 papadoms and chicken/fishcurry/dhal . (RM 8)
Instead of the usual Nirwana banana leaf rice, we decided to try Rajβs banana leaf just around the corner.
Banana Leaf Set (RM8) - taugeh, pumpkin, cucumber, fried bitter gourd. Mutton Varuval (RM10.60) - Chucky pieces of meat, perfectly cooked.
Located at a bustling corner of Jalan Telawi, finding a parking along the street can be tricky, so park in Bangsar Village or at the food court parking lot and take a short walk to Raj. Finding seats won't be nearly as difficult, considering the ample space at this corner lot restaurant. Try Raj's crispy Roti Canai (RM1.50), a buttery take on the flatbread served on banana leaf, and be lavish with the curry that goes on it! If you must have rice, enjoy the Banana Leaf Set Meal (RM7.50) β bonus, it is free of MSG! Also make space in the tummy for a fragrant, spiced Rava Thosai (RM2.50).
I almost never know how to judge the goodness of a roti canai, but I liked this one. It's crispy yet still soft with hints of butter when you eat it, I don't think I've ever liked a roti canai this much.
My friend who had banana leaf rice before that decided to order a roti canai because mine tasted good (on its own!). Another friend also had about eight roti canai once, and that friend is picky about his food, so it has to be good.
Because it's new and the place is big, I went for it & never going back. This is why:
1. The service is slow..takes forever to make an order and getting served.
2. The gravy is not awesome (you can still taste curry powder wteff
3. The mutton is chewy
4. The RASSAM does not taste like rassam at all.. not a tinge of sourness.
5. Fried chili never came
6. They don't even have fried bitter gourd π€π€
7. I only liked the fried fish but it is so tiny and it is rm6.50 per piece!
The damage was RM49 for 3blrs, 3 drinks and 2 extra dishes and no satisfaction.
Verdict: I'm going back to Devi's for more yummy heavy and better service and more satisfaction.
