[GYEONGJU, SOUTH KOREA] I think I ate the best tonkatsu ever.
We got the mixture of Tenderloin & Sirloin Pork Katsu (16,900 won) and it came with an enormous portion of both. Both cuts were very thick and meaty, but we found the tenderloin much juicier. Loved how fresh the meats were, as they do not have any foul odour! The exterior batter is very crispy and do not taste oily. There is a variety of condiments for you to add to your pork katsu as well, including different salts, sauces and mustard. We find pairing the meats with salt best, as the salt do bring out the best flavour from the meat.
If you like your cheese, then the cheese katsu (16,900 won) would be something that you're looking for. Each piece is exploding with cheese and is indeed extremely satisfying. I find the basil cheese one the most delicious among the 3, as the taste is quite refreshing compared to the other heavy flavours.
I would say this is definitely a must go when you're in Gyeongju. I already can't wait to go back to try their other katsu dishes!
