Did you know Sakura is NOT the national flower of Japan? It's actually the chrysanthemum! ๐

In the past 3 years I always choose to travel in Japan in March to hunt for my favourite Sakura Mochis! Mochis like this one pictured here are handcrafted by artisan sweet shops. Served with a real Sakura flower and a salty Sakura leaf. The mochi is delicate and filled with quality red bean paste.
๐ธ
I had probably about 10 of these during my 9 day stay in Japan. Every shop makes it slightly different, you may get a smooth exterior for the mochi or like this one, you can see each grain of rice on the mochi skin.

You have to eat these within 24 hours of purchase so you can't really bring them back as a souvenir to singapore.

Tokyo tip : if you are in Shibuya, checkout Tokyu Food Show, there's 3 shops selling authentic Sakura Mochis at 148-200jpy a piece and there's a limited daily supply!

Thanks @doc_macpro for bringing me all the way to try this super awesome Sakura mochi and sadly it was the last one this sweet shop had for sale ๐คฃ Sharing is caring!
Yes you can get them from the Pablo shop but for 2-3 times the price ๐คฃBut I'm a broke Singaporean and decided to venture 30 minutes by train outta Tokyo to find these at what local Japanese would pay for them!
๐
And No, you can't find these specials ones at Don Quijote ๐คฃ
๐
Honestly, they're pretty damn good! Really hope we can find them in singapore for the price I paid Lol. Soft and fluffy cheesecakey fillings in between the chocolate dry cake sponges! ๐ The Matcha one is even better! Thanks again to @doc_macpro for assisting with my hunt for these ๐โ๏ธ #cptslowyeoxjapan
Fu-Ryu Tonkutsu Ramen with black garlic oil did more than satiate that craving. What's best about this place is that you can ask for more noodles at absolutely no cost at all.
