This was unfortunately a let-down. Try as might to find a silver lining, it is just impossible. The portion doesn't justify the price, the spicy red bean paste is insulting (tasted more like bottled chilli sauce, weakened with water), topokki's served cold and tables, greasy. Just, nope.
Would love to one day be eating in the streets of a Korean night market but till then, places like Myeongdong Toppokki in Malaysia will have to suffice.

✨: Came for the toppokki but it took the kimbap to save the day. The toppokki on its own was as one would expect it-- spicy, sweet, chewy, but really not much to shout about. Until that is, you introduce kimbap to the mix. The melding of flavours between the sweet toppokki sauce and the fragrant sesame oil tainted gimbap makes for a mouthful that hits the spot.
💬: I would argue the size of the toppokki was pretty minuscule for the pricetag and its claim to be ‘large’, though 😂 The dish was smaller than the size of my outstretched hand.
