Everyday Joys
Super tasty and worth the price, even if the portion has shrunk slightly over the years. Love the vibes of this place and the friendly staff. Totally worth coming back to over and over again! Will probably try another bowl next time I’m there.
Healthy rice bowls priced rather decently by CBD standards. Got a salmon bowl with teriyaki sauce. By the time I got there, one of the sides was unavailable but I was happy to get more long beans! Good portions that aren’t too filling as well. Best part was the salmon, obviously, as it was torched perfectly. Teriyaki sauce wasn’t too sweet, which is a plus. You might want to come down earlier because the queue is super long during peak hour!
Very generous portions here! Had a lamb ($12) and chorizo & beef brisket ($10) taco. Unexpectedly hefty in terms of the meat portions so two was enough to fill me up where I’d typically need three smallish tacos to do the trick.
Preferred lamb more, it was seasoned well, though my only gripe it’s the whole 1/5 tomato inside it. I’d have preferred if it was diced as it made the eating experience a bit tricky. Otherwise thought it was reasonably priced for the amount of meat given!
I know it’s more of a side to be shared with friends, but I’d wolf this down all by myself if I could! Perfectly fried, golden brown calamari topped with lemon aioli and herbs. Each piece melts in your mouth and gives you the ideal crunch to chewy ratio that is so crucial in fried calamari dishes. Not every place can achieve this like Miznon does. My advice: steal more pieces while your friends aren’t looking because you’ll be sad once it’s finished. Or just order a double portion!
Haven’t found churros in Singapore that make me happy. That is, until I tried these ones at Muchachos! $10.50 is a very reasonable price to pay for 6 sticks of churros, though I’d have appreciated more dark chocolate dip. The tiny plastic container also isn’t the most dipping friendly but if you and your pals don’t mind double dipping, it works. Will be back for them soon!
Pretty value for money deal here. Got a Chirashi Don and Mentaiko Salmon Don (pictured). Personally preferred the Chirashi Don as the fish was fresh and the restaurant was quite generous with the chunks. This was fine, though the sauce had too much mayo for my taste. Looking forward to trying the other mains next time!
Love me a sweet Burpple deal to close off the night and this was a nice one! Got the Chocolate Cookies & Dough and Darkest Chocolate Nib – my friend and I enjoyed both of them equally as we’re both huge chocolate lovers. Though the hurdle with these desserts is that you have to wait for it to thaw a bit to be able to pierce through the shortbread. Nonetheless a value deal!
Taco Tuesdays are when one taco will only set you back by $3. While I love the burritos here, I was feeling too full to get one and decided to make use of this offer! Got the steak, lamb and lengua taco, all pictured here. Meat was deliciously cooked and the portions were generous — I especially enjoyed the lamb. I still prefer the burritos (and the birria taco!) but this deal is too good to miss.
Finally tried Dumpling Darlings! A lot of value for their lunch deal. Priced at $17, the set comes with your choice of egg noodles, dumplings (4 pieces) and a cold drink. Chose the Sichuan Pork Noodles – noodles were springy and pork was well minced. Not nearly as spicy as I’d like but that’s a matter of personal preference as I tend to like my spicy dishes to practically set me on fire.
