Char Kway Teow
Despite the low google reviews of malaysia chiak in general, the CKT here is rather not bad.
Got slighy Wok hei.
+1 for extra egg.
A popular store here at ZRFC.
There was once I came here for lunch and queued up from the traffic light outside of the hawker centre. That was how popular it was during its heyday.
Now the queue not as long anymore, but this plate of CKT can still eat la. Still got queue but not as long anymore, but still need to wait 20-30mins at least.
Wok hei is strong. And the entire plate of CKT was wet & flavourful.
Update: Store owners have annouced on Facebook that they are retiring with immediate effect.
Guan Kee was a Michelin Bib Gourmand listed stall located at Ghim Moh Market.
When I went to queue for this 1 month ago on a lunch time Sunday, had to queue at least an hour.
Their CKT tasted very flavourful, wok hei was evident and the entire dish had just the right "Wetness" to it.
Meng kee char kway teow has been hyped up recently on social media, for being 1 of the best char kway teow in Singapore. Just YouTube search char kway teow.
It is really good, the lup cheong quantity is very generous, wok hei is evident and the entire plate felt eggy, just the way I like all my CKT.
KEK is a well-known zhi char place here at Alexandra. Getting parking lots here will always be a challenge here during meal times.
Gets very packed in the restaurant as well, so make your reservations before coming down.
1) Signature Moonlight Hor Fun
- one of their signature dish, strong wok hei with thick and sticky texture due to the 2 raw eggs. A must have here
2) Sharing Platter
- Golden Pearl Roll
- Prawn roll
- Yam Basket
- You tiao with Seafood Paste
- a great platter for sharing, especially to try their signature Golden Pearl Roll & Prawn Roll.
- all crispy and tasted good. Must order item.
3) Crab Bee Hoon Soup
- Not their signature dish, but soup was flavourful and crab was fresh.
4) Claypot Liver
- a must have dish here. The best dish today, sauce was damn good and liver was not overcooked whatsoever. Just right.
5) Coffee Pork Ribs
- very distinct coffee taste. Pork Ribs were tender and the first plate to be cleared today.
6) Salted Egg Sotong
- lots of good reviews on this and rightly so, most value for money, as the sotong pieces seem to be endless. Each small piece is well coated with salted Egg.
7) Sambal Kangkong
- every zhi char dinner must have this, and the Sambal Kangkong here definitely meets my high standard.
8) Spinach with 3 kinds egg
- quite ok. Nothing really fantastic, but not the worst I ever had.
Long Queue during lunch time. Very Popular store here at Upper Boon Keng MFC.
The Char Kway Teow was wet type, tasted good. Large portion
Remembered reading about this place on social media before. The uncle chef dances whilst cooking this plate of Char Kway Teow.
The CKT smells good. Tasted only ok though.
The one thing I like about this hawker centre, is that I see most stores accept cashless qr code payment like grabpay etc. Not bad for a hawker centre located in the midst of a old neighbourhood. And most storeholders I see are of the older generation, who says they can't embrace technological advancements.
Good job uncles & aunties.
My Favourite dish here. The CKT had strong wok hei, and the level of spiciness for me was just right
Nan Yang Dao has been bookmarked by myself to try for quite some time. It is about a 5-10mins walk from NEX, and is located at the ground floor of a HDB.
Nan yang dao serves a large variety of Malaysian Style foods.
After 7.30pm, already alot of popular stores here closed liao. Read some good reviews about this place and decided to give it a try.
Prawns were fresh and price was quite affordable. Generous amount of lup cheong.
Ended up with a non spicy plate, guess I may have misheard the stall auntie, definitely will be tastier with chilli. Without it, just tasted a little bland. Next time, I will get the spicy version.
