New On Beyond: August 2022
Looking for a new hangout spot? The Tipsy Tavern at Maxwell Road might just be it. Cafe by day and gastropub by night, this joint prides themselves in everything from artisanal coffees, teas, and pastries, to fusion dishes, rotating craft beer taps, and handcrafted cocktails. If you’re there for a meal, be sure to grab their Bara Chirashi Don ($28) that’s loaded with marinated salmon and tuna sashimi, cubed Japanese cucumber, rice, an onsen egg, and some tobiko and ikura to boot. This one’s guaranteed to satisfy!
Using Josper grilling technology, First Grill Signature & The Chill Club promises to satisfy any carnivorous cravings! Their expert grilling techniques bring out the smoky goodness in all their cuts including the grilled boneless chicken leg in the Grilled Chicken Supreme Burger ($16). Sandwiched in between two brioche buns are fresh tomatoes, lettuce, onions, American cheese, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce and honey mustard. This comes with a side of crispy fries as well. Hungry yet?

Fatburger recommends you hold their burgers with both hands; that’s how hefty and juicy they are! What’s more, every meal is made to order as you like it. You can go for either the Single ($9.50), Double ($13.50), Triple ($17.50) or the Quad ($21.50) depending on how hungry you are. All burgers come loaded with fresh condiments such as lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, relish, onions, and pickles.
If you see a bright-green kiosk with a smiling spud, that’s probably Potato Corner! This food cart has become famous for its flavoured fries, and for good reason. Just look at their Mega Fries ($5.70) which are available in flavours like Cheese, BBQ & Sour Cream.
Calling all coconut lovers! You’ve simply got to try the Coconut Ice Tea ($4.70) that comes in flavours such as Earl Grey, Longan, Lychee, Passion Fruit, and Peach. When infused with coconut water, the taste of the Ceylon black tea is enhanced, leaving a sweet lingering aftertaste—does this not sound good? Get 30% off your total bill with Burpple Beyond.
At Canadian 2 For 1 Pizza, there’s always a slice for everyone! Catering to local tastebuds, they’ve come up with flavours that best resonate with the folk here; the Butter Chicken ($30.70 for regular, $39.50 for medium, $46.10 for XL) is a good example of that! This particular pizza is loaded with butter chicken gravy, chicken chunks, onions, mushrooms, red chilli, coriander leaves, and mozzarella + Edam cheese.
Be sure to use Burpple Beyond to redeem our 1-for-1 deal for their Medium Standard Pizza! And, while you’re at it, why not get the exclusive Burpple Snack Box ($15.70) which comes with 6 pcs Chicken Nuggets, 1 Mash & Gravy Cup, 1 Garlic Bun, and 1 Coca-Cola can.
Yakizen is where you can find value-for-money lunches during the day and great Izakaya at night! Some of their stand-out dishes include the Salmon Aburi Maki ($26.80) and the Fresh Oyster with ponzu sauce (3pcs for $14.80). We reckon these would make for the perfect dinner when paired with either their Asahi or Sapporo bottles.
Domino’s Pizza certainly needs no introduction. The international fast food pizza chain is renown for their New York crusts that are hand stretched from fresh dough and of course, their signature sauce which is made from fresh vine-ripened tomatoes. You simply can’t go wrong with their classic Pepperoni Pizza!
Attention all fans of South Union Park and Eleven Strands: a new concept restaurant has arrived! If you’ve been digging the grub from either of these restaurants then you’d be pleased to know that the same folks have a new restaurant called Mia. Much like its counterparts, Mia serves delicious mains such as the Seafood Risotto ($28) that comes loaded with a plethora of fresh seafood ingredients—we’re talking prawns, clams, squid, baby scallops, and green shelled mussels, all doused in tomato sauce with a sprinkle of parmesan and a dash of parsley.
Serving authentic Japanese fare and drinks, Nanami Izakaya that’s located at Tanjong Pagar is the perfect spot for a quick lunch or an after-work gathering with your colleagues! Opt for their donburis during lunch and go for their selection of sashimi in the evening. We reckon the Salmon Belly Sashimi ($13) and the Scallop Sashimi ($12) would go great with a couple of pints of beer.
