my favourite out of everything we ordered!! a slight bummer it wasn’t that crispy BUT it was especially umami and fragrant bc of the fried shallots and dried shrimps. the toppings took it to a new level 😮💨
don’t fancy liu sha baos in the first place but something about the filling didn’t sit well with me and it wasn’t flowy either. wouldn’t reorder this!
again, the rice roll here was smooth and the thickness was just right. just wished there was more pork filling within for a more satisfying mouthful, but definitely one of the better rice rolls i’ve had!
i liked the contrasting textures of the silky smooth rice rolls and the crispy prawn but eat it fast or else the prawn turns soggy from absorbing the sauce. a kinda heavy dish though cos portion is quite huge!
v soupy!! the soup in the first xlb i ate exploded everywhere :") the skin wasn’t too thick and they didn't skimp on the pork filling! not bad but i feel theirs is quite pricey
dumplings themselves were plump and juicy but the sauce was SUPER vinegary, both my friend and i were surprised when we took our first bite :”) especially since we had read reviews saying it could be more vinegary 😳 the sauce tasted off-balance this time but if you prefer stronger vinegar flavours, this might appeal to you!
didn’t expect myself to like this as i’m not a fan of pandan but the sweet pandan shell paired surprisingly well with the char siew 😚 also enjoyed the crisp exterior of the pandan shell though its sweetness gets slightly surfeiting after one bun. the char siew filling (thankfully) wasn’t too sweet though i wished there was more of it.
must admit that the blue hue looked really pretty but besides the ig-worthy aesthetics, these weren’t that special and tasted just like any regular har gow. thought that the skin was on the thicker side and the prawn filling was quite dry. size wasn’t that XL either🥲 just go for the regular har gow!
best thing on their menu!!! perfectly springy noodles and 5 huge plump dumplings tossed in a highly addictive spicy and numbing mala-like sauce 🤩 which is what keeps me coming back for more. i always say the portion is too huge for me but end up finishing it all cos it’s that good 😮💨
the funan outlet has an ongoing promo of 50% off your second bowl, which is just the cherry on top 👌🏻 super value-for-money!!!
looks quite unassuming but despite its simplicity - i mean, it’s just noodles and veg - this perfectly chewy and qq bowl of noodles was damn addictive. portion is quite huge too which makes it value-for-money. recommend opting for the highest spice level cos their chilli is really v mild, contrary to my expectations 🥲
totally get the hype over their fried rice after trying cos these were gooooood. for starters, the rice was lightly seasoned, fragrant and i loved the egginess that it carried!! the pork chop was frickin juicy, tender and flavourfuli daresay it’s better than the og from dtf :”) the mala one was also surprisingly good; the rice has a strong sichuan pepper taste and you could really taste the 麻 in every mouthful which made it v satisfying
their chilli also deserves a special mention. i wish it had a spicier kick but it’s no doubt extremely savoury and enhances the flavour of the rice 👌🏻👌🏻
