Cafes
A new brunch cafe in Botanical Gardens next to Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden. They have a build your own board with brunch items for $15.9 for 3 items and $24.9 for 5 items with an extensive choice from Bakery, Eggs, Dairy, Fruit and veggies, Protien and sweet treats. I picked the focaccia, smoked salmon and garlic and thyme mushrooms. Salmon and mushrooms were great but I’ve had better focaccia. The 3 items is good for small appetites. It’s recommended to make a reservation.
[SGD 23.90++] pasta cooked perfectly Al dente in a pink sauce. Splash of gochugaru gives a subtle spicy kick. Scallops are fresh and beautifully seared. Pet friendly cosy place to sit along Jalan Besar. There’s a short queue at lunchtime.
(17 SGD) takeaway from Black Fairy’s all day brunch menu. Poached eggs on crispy Canadian bacon and a buttered toasted brioche bun. Just what you’d expect from an eggs benny and it carried well with the hollandaise sauce in a separate container. Came with lettuce, purple cabbage salad garnished with what seemed like bits of crushed cheesecake crust.
Brunches cafe has an quirky maximalist decor, retro clocks, typewriters and some of the seating made from old car parts. As for the dish (18.5 SGD) deep fried risotto balls with cheese and bacon, doused in a tomato sauce. The chicken prep felt more Asian inspired than Cajun but tasty nonetheless. Food was good overall and great service.
