Japanese Food
I’ve been wanting to try Sukiya ever since reading about its opening online but every time I came, there was an insane queue. So finally today, we came (quite early) and there was no queue!
I went for the Gyudon (Medium) Set with a Soft Boiled Egg, Karaage, and Miso Soup, which was delicious! There is more than enough rice in the Medium bowl, too much for me in fact, and topped with fatty (but not too oily) and well seasoned beef though I do wish there was more beef. The soft boiled egg is perfect and the karaage is so juicy but not crunchy at all.
I also got to try the Sukiyaki, which was too sweet for my liking. I probably wouldn’t order it again as I preferred the taste of the beef in the Gyudon. I’d go for a Small Gyudon bowl next time with extra beef for the perfect ratio of rice and beef.
Chanced upon this restaurant when the queue for the restaurant we wanted to try was ridiculously long and quite enjoyed this!
The portions are generous with this huge bowl of Spicy Crab Broth Ramen with Flavoured Egg, which comes with a hanjuku egg, a few slices of char siew, the spicy chili paste, and I added a giant piece of seaweed. The first thing I tried was the broth and boy was it rich! I could really taste the crab in the broth but it surprisingly didn’t have that seafood undertone, it was just rich crab broth. We were also served some sides to snack on while waiting and I really liked the bean sprouts, which we got seconds of.
Overall, this meal is on the heavier side as the rich broth can be quite filling as well as all that ramen but I’m glad we got to try this restaurant because a crab broth ramen is quite unique and not something I’ve tried before.
I wish I had discovered Sushiro earlier because the quality and freshness of the fish here is great for the price they charge.
Pictured are some of my favourites; Salmon Belly Nigiri, Salmon Sashimi, Salmon Nigiri, Salmon Gunkan, Spicy Salmon & Tuna Gunkan, Vinegared Mackerel, and a limited edition plate I can’t remember the name of.
It’s a quick and fuss free meal, as the sushi arrives promptly after you order on the tablet. I like that they limit you to 4 plates per order on the tablet, so you don’t over order - you can basically only order 4 plates at a time before having to send a new order in on the tablet. The payment and billing is efficient and they have a loyalty card, where you get a stamp for every visit and redeem gifts based on the number of stamps you have.
As the title reads, it’s my go-to for a satisfying conveyor belt sushi experience and you can save time by reserving a table through their app.
