Momoyama ($40.80/ box of 6 pcs)
• Cudweed Momoyama (Green)
• Dan Feng Tea Momoyama (Yellow)
• Osmanthus Momoyama (Pink)
These intrigued me, as they looked like snowskin, but the skin turned out to be made of white kidney beans, giving it a softer and smoother texture. Compared to traditional mooncakes, the baked Momoyama skin is lower in sugar and fat. For those who like a slight floral flavour in your mooncakes, you'd enjoy the Osmanthus one 😉.
Delightful Reunion ($48.80)
• Sweet Tau Sar with Melon Seeds
• Salty Tau Sar with Salted Egg Yolk
• Yuan Yang with Salted Egg Yolk
• Teochew Double Delight
One of my favourite from the series would be the
Yuan Yang with Salted Egg Yolk - it's a combination of spicy pork floss, salted egg yolk and savoury mung bean, and that combi makes it a little addictive somehow.
Teochew Double Delight was an interesting one - comes with red bean paste filling, with some winter melon seeds, citrus stripes, and glutinous-rice flour, making it slightly chewy which reminds me of Wife Biscuit, except I actly wouldn't mind without the citrus stripes! 🤭
