We pre-ordered @starterlab.sg awhile back when Phase 2 had first started! We got their open-faced posh toasts and sandwiches to go for a weekend brunch!

First up we had the ๐Œ๐š๐ฌ๐œ๐š๐ซ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ž, ๐–๐š๐ฅ๐ง๐ฎ๐ญ & ๐‡๐จ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ (๐‘๐จ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ) $๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’, which was generously lathered spread on the toast. The drizzle of honey really brought out the mascarpone, which was light and creamy. We really enjoyed the contrast in flavours and gobbled it up super quickly hehe. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Next, we had the ๐’๐“๐€๐‘๐“๐„๐‘ ๐‹๐€๐ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐‚๐ก๐ž๐ž๐ฌ๐ž (๐‘๐จ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ) $๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—. Stuffed thick with 3 different cheeses (swipe to the last pic for the cross section), this was one of the best grilled cheeses we had!

Overall, we really enjoyed the toasts butโ€ฆ the price tag was a biiiiit steep. Is it really worth paying $19 for a grilled cheese? #lifequestions I guess we might return if weโ€™re craving their sandwiches.

We made it down to the newly opened French Fold by @mercimarcel yesterday after seeing their galettes splashed across our feed for the last week! We have to say that their service was absolutely amazing and attentive, with the food coming within 5-10 minutes after ordering.

First up, we had one of their bestsellers: ๐๐จ. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’ ๐†๐š๐ฅ๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ž made with chiffonade of ham, organic egg sunny side up, over sautรฉed mushrooms and Comtรฉ cheese. Iโ€™m not sure if it was just ours, but for a bestseller we felt like it fell flat. The dough had a slightly charred taste to it and the medley of ingredients was overpowered, it just didnโ€™t seem to shine through as much as we had hoped.

Next, we had the ๐Œ๐ข๐ง๐ข ๐†๐š๐ฅ๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ made of buckwheat flour, with Fourme dโ€™Ambert cheese, honey and walnut encased within. Cut into eight bite-sized pieces, this was perfect for sharing and we loved the drizzle of honey that helped to enhance the delicate flavour of the cheese.

Lastly, we had their ๐‘๐š๐ฌ๐ฉ๐›๐ž๐ซ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐‚๐ซ๐ž๐ฉ๐ž with raspberry jam, fresh berries and strawberry basil ice cream from Birds of Paradise! Easily the star of the meal, we loved how chewy and doughy the texture was. Paired perfectly with the rest of the ingredients, this was one dish we would order again and again.

Although the service was impressive for a newly opened restaurant (with it seemingly running at perfect efficiency), the taste left much more to be improved upon sadly. We felt like we were brought to opposite ends of the spectrum, with a disappointing start to the meal but an excellent end to it ๐Ÿ˜‚

Nestled away in a cozy neighbourhood at Kembengan, the food here at @southunionpark did not disappoint! We used our #BurppleBeyond here and enjoyed a 1-for-1 deal for our mains!

Pictured are the ๐’๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐๐ซ๐š๐ฐ๐ง ๐Œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ข๐ค๐จ ๐๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐š ($23) and the ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐‚๐ก๐จ๐ฉ ($24).

Topped with generous chunks of juicy prawns, the pasta was cooked al-dente and coated generously in a smoky mentaiko sauce. Unlike other mentaiko dishes which can get heavy too quickly, the flavours were well balanced and I finished every last bite of my pasta. I loved this dish and would definitely re-order it again.

The pork chop was served with slices of apples and coated in a pommery mustard sauce. This was a very interesting and unique flavour combination, with whiffs of cinnamon yet paired delightfully with the pork chop. Overall, we enjoyed this dish very much as well.
