A medley of battered vegetables, mushrooms and seafood ingredients.

The price point of the bowl was about $28 which is higher than most places serving tempura but it's easily justifiable. You get to three ebi, vegetables (eggplant and pumpkin), mushrooms, kisu fish, squid and anago (sea eel); much unlike the tasteless white fish that's served at other cheaper tempura places. The batter was light enough and gave a good mouthfeel crunch I particularly enjoyed the squid, which was surprisingly tender and not chewy at all. To top it off, you will also get an egg that remains runny and half boiled even though it has been fried with a light batter on the outside.

Would definitely recommend, although do note that the waiting time between ordering and serving the food was markedly long. This could be attributed to what appears to be the practice of frying the ingredients only after the customers have made their orders.

The usual takeaway order for me when I decide to purchase my lunch or dinner from tamago-en. Thick white cuts of breaded chicken cutlet that's still moist with creamy egg. By thick, I really mean THHICC; the texture of the meat was really smooth as well.

First time trying this place and decided to go for the most expensive item available on their burpple one for one menu. Overall the beef was tender and flavourful enough, but wasn't anything to shout about. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad; it just didn't impress. The place is relatively quiet and it's easy to get a table on a Saturday evening. Service staff were friendly.

Rating 6/10.

Note: this dish does not come with rice. You will need to order that separately.

This is the katsu/fried rendition of their grilled hamburger steak that's paired with the seafood cake. Don't be put off by the katsu option; the beef still retained its juiciness and was not overly done. The seafood pancake was surprising thick, and very flavourful. Washed this down with a grape soda ramune Rating 7.3/10

Paid approx $40 for 2 pax with burpple one for one deal! Do note that we ordered ramune, which is one of their pricier drinks from the menu, so you can expect to pay less if you order a cheaper drink. Would recommend this place to others.

Grilled hamburger steak with deep fried pork katsu, that's paired with rice. The pork katsu was crispy with a relatively thick batter. The grilled hamburger steak was the better of the two dishes, it was medium cooked and the meat was still juicy. Rating 7/10

The quality of the char siew here is great, with a good ratio of fats to lean meat that's adequately charred for a distinct smoky taste. Priced at $11.90, this is a much better offer in terms of value and taste than some of the items of their menu. I would definitely recommend this dish for others to try and would definitely order it again. Rating 8.2/10
Note: this apparently doesn't come with a bowl of miso soup. But no worries, there's a meidi-ya supermarket within the same level and you can have a japanese soft drink to wash down your meal thereafter.

This was a seasonal promotional items, which promoted to have allegedly twice the portion of meat for about $12.90. The pork was thinly sliced and it tastes of sukiyaki; the flavour profile kind of reminds me of yoshinoyas beef bowl. That said, there's better items on their menu. Rating : 6.5/10

The batter in the tonkatsu was crispy but not oily. The fired oysters were plump and juicy while the karage was pretty average albeit juicy. The soup is also refillable; and their miso soup dies have buts of mushroom and pork in it, which makes it a lot more robust than the miso soup served at other areas Fairly generous portions and above average taste; could very well rival some of the other tonkatsu chains that I have tried. Rating 7/10
Service staff was also great. Would recommend this to someone who doesn't like crowded areas.

Portions were quite generous; slabs of tender smoky meat with decent thickness. The meat wasnt dry either and retained some juciness. Priced at approx $9.

A safe menu option to order - generous thick cuts of chicken katsu and creamy egg topped over a sizable mound of japanese short grain rice. Price may be a little steep for some at about $15. Rating 6.9/10

I ordered it as a takeaway, would probably look more aesthetically pleasing if I ate it there.

Probably the third or fourth time here, although it's been a while since my last visit. I don't recall seeing them offering unagi previously, so we gave it a try. The unagi was pretty good, and could compete with some of the common restaurant chains out there. The rice however was somewhat dry and not quite the quality one would expect from japanese bowls. Still decent for the price of $12.90 Rating 6.7/10

The place has renovated its interior and reduced it's menu items. The prices have also increased since a year ago, but I guess it's still reasonable given the portions and inflationary circumstances.

Light and crispy batter with thick curry that is topped with pickles. The chicken was tender and juicy, and was decent in terms of favour. Priced at $12.90. overall decent, rating : 6.8/10

Do note that this place may take a while to serve the food though. This was on a Wednesday evening and it took slightly above 15 mins even though it was not terribly crowded. Not for people who want a quick fix.
