JAPANESE 🇯🇵
Our feast from Milk Fish The other day! This set for two cost $40 and it’s damn worth it, came with 2 soups, grilled fish, appetisers, your choice of carbs and prawn rolls. You bet we were mad full after this 😛
Finally trying Ganko Sushi! It’s a relatively new Japanese restaurant at Dhoby Ghaut which specialises in sushi and sashimi. Got one of their sashimi rice bowls ($33) and it was chefs kiss. Very fresh sashimi and though the portion size looks deceivingly small, it was surprisingly filling.
I’ve only ever had Japanese bbq at Japanese BBQ Tora, it’s my go-to. Food here was excellent as usual and it’s not as crowded as the other jap bbq joints like Yakiniku Like.
This staircase sushi thing (Kaidan set) at Takeshi-san looked pretty only, but was very meh. It’s very expensive even after the Burpple Beyond promo, which forces you to get the most expensive set so in the end we paid about $40+ for 2 sets which is pretty pricey for 12 pieces of sushi. Though one of the sets had foie gras, it oddly didn’t taste very premium. Looks pretty for the gram but that’s about it.
After eating the Japanese buffet at Shin Minori, I’ve come to realise that my buffet stamina is not as fantastic as it was 5 years ago. The last time I had the food here it was meh but now it’s not too shabby leh. They’ve seemed to have expanded their menu since the last time I’ve been here and there are a lot more interesting menu options.
Japanese Curry Express at Fortune Centre has become quite popular for their maki and thicccc salmon but I sadly didn’t enjoy my meal as much as I wanted to. Maki was a let down. $12 for 6 pieces which translates to $2 per piece. Rice was dry and on the harder side and salmon slices, while decent, were meh. For the price point it’s a no go for me.
Our last meal before dine out was allowed (yes, this was quite some time ago) Went to Muji cafe and took away two of their sets. Prices aren’t the cheapest but the food quality is 👌🏻👌🏻 we wouldn’t mind eating here again!!
Yakiniku places are all the range now and I finally tried out the one at Queenstown called Japanese BBQ Tora. For the price point, the quality of meats were fantastic and I can see why people love it so much. I also like how I can grill everything to my liking. Only issue is the small — I smelled like bbq meat for the rest of the day.
Albeit priced than Sushiro’s rendition but these come with Mentaiko on top. Issa good deal.
Shiok, noodles were al dente and chewy, good if you feel carbs.
Wasn’t expecting much but this was surprisingly good. Was pretty sizeable for a mini size and satisfied my chirashi itch. Would order again.
Always a good idea, cheap and good.
