Chinese Fave
Back here second time at a later timing and great that we called for a reservation. As usual, the crowd started coming in and the number of grab/foodpanda delivery waiting outside is endless. Used the fried item 1-1 as they didn’t allow multiple claims the previous time. This time I didn’t go for the fanciful Siu Mais of various kinds but ordered 2 Cheong Fun Crispy Youtiao Rolls ($5.89). The cashier was kind to inform me that the takeaway will be in another receipt to remove the service charge. I ordered the pan fried carrot cake at $4.71 so my bill was just offset with this amount. My most expensive item was salted egg baked custard bun at $6.31 for 3. The rest of the items were $5 plus. Total bill $45.55 for 2 pax. Like how old school this dimsum place is, makes you feel like you are in HK.
Second time back here. This time it was a takeaway for the family on Sunday. Ordered 8 bowls of a variety of beef slice/tendon/balls noodle. The cashier was very patient with my order as all 8 had different specifications. I used three of the 1-1 Burpple and my bill came up to $50.10. Each takeaway container costs $0.30 so for the dry noodles, I asked for additional soup which I had to pay extra for the container. Note to self : to bring own container in future to save costs. The family enjoyed the 24 hour brewed soup very much. The Q can be pretty long after 6pm, so try to be there before 6pm. The kitchen staff were friendly when I asked for extra Chili and chinchalok. Good experience at this new joint!
5 selection for 1-1 menu. When we arrived, the ginger fried chicken drumstick ($5) was just ready. We decided to try the chicken wing set as we prefer chicken wing ($4). The owner was friendly and overheard him not charging another customer $0.30 for takeaway as the guy didn’t have small change. He merely said, come back more often. The lemak rice was great and piping hot. The chicken wing was 3 pieces instead of 2, served alongside one egg, ikan bilis nuts and achar. Great value for money and it seemed the most popular breakfast stall in this coffeeshop. If you are not living in Punggol, it’s a maze finding the coffeeshop after you parked your car. Will definitely be back to support.
This seems like a popular authentic Taiwan joint as there was a Q during dinner. Ordered the recommended dishes of braised pork noodles and dried intestine vermicelli for 1-1. Unfortunately 1-1 can’t be used on the beef noodles. The XO Chili is great and the vermicelli is just right and not too heavy. Can add-in vinegar too! The braised pork came with two meatballs and pickled veg. Both bowls are big yet we finished all. Total bill $11.65 is equivalent to food court price. Will go again and maybe try the toast or rice set in future. Didn’t order their BBT cuz we had our own drinks.
Uncle Leong is famous for their crabs or seafood. This time we decided to opt for non-seafood. But I must say their Nescafe Pork Ribs is very tasty! They have Guinness Pork Ribs too. We chose our other 1-1 deal : Crispy Milk Granules Chicken. However was a little disappointed as the granules were not nicely done. No oomph when eating this.
Glad to have this onboard Burpple. There’s only a small selection of dishes we can choose from. But this alone is good enough for us cuz it’s comfort food!
This salted egg beancurd is different because there’s crab meat inside. I ordered small for 2 pax but it’s huge serving of 6 big pieces of beancurd and broccoli. You can literally see the crab meat so $20 is all worth it! Friendly staff too!
This outlet serves Taiwan cuisine. With 1-1 set, for $18.30nett, I ordered a main dish (sesame chicken), a snack (8 pcs of chicken wing) and a drink (I chose bbt, but they ran out of jasmine tea). All under $10/pax. Decent food, a little slow in service. There were three staff working non-stop. As the snack arrived after the main dish, was too full to finish so I packed the balance 6 wings home. The sesame chicken came in a small claypot and had the right texture. Overall, a small setup with reasonable price.
