East-siders, come by this void deck-themed cafe for comforting, familiar local dishes. Share the fragrant Mi Tai Mak Soup ($7) before filling up on the Rice with Honey Glazed BBQ Pork and Lava Egg ($8). Be sure to add the spicy and smokey sambal chilli sauce when ordering the Nasi Lemak with Salted Egg Chicken ($8.50)!

Here’s a new reason to visit Dempsey Hill! Come for date night and enjoy authentic Italian fare. On mains, the Butternut Pumpkin Mezzalune ($25) is a winner, where homemade egg pasta is stuffed with delightfully sweet pumpkin filling. Also good is the Veal Ravioli ($28) and the meat-free Mushroom Truffle Risotto ($25).

Previously called Osteria Art in Raffles Place, this restaurant by Chef Beppe De Vito re-launched in National Gallery. Keep this snazzy spot in mind for celebratory dinners. Choose from the Three Course ($78), Four Course ($108) and Five Course Degustation Menu ($138). Amongst the many dishes, Burppler Veronica Phua recommends the Italian Seabass in fermented anchovy and apple sauce, tuna belly carpaccio with Piemonte hazelnuts and truffle, as well as a to-die-for Tiramisu.

Drop by this kiosk in ION for this famous Japanese cream puff stick. The Croquant Chou ($2.80 per stick, $10.50 for four) is crisp on the outside but breaks apart to reveal silky smooth cream inside. Otherwise, their Soft Serve Ice Cream ($6) is the perfect treat on a hot day!

From the folks of Washoku Goen comes a new Jap restaurant ideal for a quick and easy lunches with your mates. Have the foolproof Cheese Curry Salmon (from $6.80) that sees cheese melted over thick Japanese curry and rice, alongside a chunky slice of salmon. Also good is their tender yet crisp Chicken Katsu Curry Rice (from $6.80).

This intimate 16-seater spot in Upper Serangoon is perfect for vegans and vegetarians. Helmed by the folks behind The Humble Loaf and Gastrosmiths, expect tasty and comforting food. Have the saffron-infused Fenugreek White Wine Curry ($20) or the Heritage Eggs ($19) served with lovely bread thick, garlicky pickled shallot beurre blanc and sautéed spinach.

Perfect for a lunch date in Orchard is this new pasta bar by the Les Amis Group. The 3 Course Lunch Menu (from $22) is a steal, with an appetiser, a pasta and a dessert. On appetisers, have the Burrata that is silky smooth and served with pesto, or the sinfully crispy fried Calamari with mayonaise. For your pasta, you won’t go wrong with the hearty Tagliatelle Bolognese. End with the delectable Lemon Cheesecake.

Round the girls up for a cosy lunch at Tanglin Mall. Their Set Lunch (from $28) includes a soup of the day, chef's pizza or pasta and a dessert (add $8). You could also take Burppler Xing Wei Chua's advice and go for the Chicken Souvlaki ($28), where chicken thigh skewers are grilled over charcoal and wood and garnished with rosemary, caramelised red shallots, roasted garlic, and lemon. Also good are the Grilled Octopus ($28) and the eggplant-and-minced-beef dish, Maria's Moussaka ($32).
