Food Adventures In Taiwan
The best chicken chop!
Housed in what used to be an eye hospital, this ice cream and confectionary shop is worth a visit, for both the interesting ice cream as well as pretty visual display and product packaging.
Milkfish is a specialty in Tainan. This porridge is similar to the Teochew style fish porridge that we get in SG. It was light, tasty and not fishy at all. Very appetizing bowl of porridge and there was a range of side dishes that you could choose from to complement the porridge.
This is a well-known restaurant that originated in Tainan and now has outlets all over Taiwan. Their signature wheat noodles in prawn and pork broth served with minced meat sauce and a shrimp looked simple but tasted so good. The garlic paste added a nice dimension to the broth.
We tried a few other dishes like braised intestines and pork trotter, fried oysters, and stir fried beef with scallions, which were all pretty tasty.
The whole chicken was roasted in a huge earthen pot. It was well marinated and tasted good without any dip/sauce required.
Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Cingjjng 清境. This pot of fish head soup was so rich and flavorful with generous amount of ingredients! Most of the other dishes we had were good and the pricing is very affordable.
Finally got down to trying this after many trips to Taipei. It was a good bowl of braised pork rice and the sides (especially the pork belly, fried tofu and bitter gourd pork rib soup) were also good.
Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside.
Flavorful hot pot with fresh Spanish Mackerel, loads of rice vermicelli, yam and veggie. Couldn’t stop drinking the yummy broth!
