Itadakimasu 🍜

Of random restaurants I stumbled upon during my visit to the Land of the Rising Sun back in November 2018.

Speaking of no more normal pancakes from my previous post, I clearly lied. We walked around Shibuya (or was it Harajuku? I forgot) and managed to find this cafe. There was a line, so we had to wait. Once we were seated, we immediately ordered this. Waited quite a bit and it arrived. Not as amazing looking as the soufflé pancakes we had back in Fleur Kyoto, but this is still good. Very fattening and unhealthy, if I may add. Look at the amount of whipped cream, it’s like Mount Fuji on its own alright. There was also a scoop of vanilla ice cream by the side if I remember correctly. We took the sour toppings (pineapple and stuff) so that it balances out the sweetness. Will we queue again for this? Yes.

P/S: I saw it in Singapore a week after I came back. I was so tempted to go..

You didn’t really go to Japan if you didn’t try their soufflé pancakes, it’s so good! Fleur wasn’t too far from the Kyoto station (it’s a huge station!), assuming you got out from the correct exit (I don’t remember which anymore). Google is helpful in getting us there, so you can try the same. We managed to get seats almost immediately upon entering, but once seated and ordered, we were told that our pancakes would take approximately about 45 minutes to be ready. About an hour later, it arrived. It was so soft and fluffy and everything you’ve ever dreamed of in a pancake, and I almost didn’t want to eat the normal type anymore (more on this later). I would say it was worth the 45 minutes. We’d come back but we didn’t have enough time then. *makes mental note to revisit if ever in Kyoto again*

I cannot for the life of me remember what the name of this quaint little eatery was, but it was located near the Namba-Osaka non-JR line station, that much I can confirm. It was my first ever meal in the Land of the Rising Sun, and it was also reasonably priced at just ¥ 170. It was hot and just nice given the cold weather, and it tasted good. The broth was nice, the udon was chewy.. the tempura was good too. I loved everything about this bowl of udon 😍
